I just started watching Elisabeth Moss‘ new show, Imperfect Women, and it’s already getting people talking! It’s based on a book, and the story is about a really terrible crime that completely destroys a long-time friendship between three women. You can find it on Apple TV now, and honestly, the reviews are all over the place, which makes me even more curious to see what I think!
Kerry Washington and Kate Mara star alongside the Handmaid’s Tale actor.
We found the thriller captivating and highly recommended it as a mystery, but some of the connections between characters felt a little forced or underdeveloped.

We hoped the show would have highlighted the connection between the women more, as that’s what really draws viewers into the story.
As a viewer, I felt like “Imperfect Women” showed a close bond between the characters instead of actually creating one. I found myself getting invested because of the intriguing story and the actors’ skills, but honestly, the connection between the characters didn’t feel very deep or genuine. It felt a little surface-level, even though I wanted to believe in it.

In contrast, Metro praised the show highly, awarding it four out of five stars and describing it as both “perfect” and “bone-chilling.” They highlighted the cast’s performances as the key to the show’s impact, writing that while the story itself is captivating, it’s the actors who truly give the show its weight and depth.
The Guardian offered a mixed review, suggesting the show is enjoyable, but only if viewers aren’t expecting too much. Their review was titled “Imperfect Women review – lots of fun … if you lower your expectations enough.”

Even the website IndieWire joined the chorus of disapproval, stating that the murder mystery wasn’t even enjoyably bad.
The publication also pointed out that while the women claim to be friends – even calling each other ‘soulmates’ – their actions don’t match their words. This creates distance and prevents the audience from connecting with the struggles of the characters.
Unfortunately, even with a talented cast clearly enjoying themselves, the weak plot completely ruins the experience. The predictable mystery slows down and ultimately fizzles out.
However, The Arts Fuse praised the show’s complex characters, noting that while the female leads make mistakes, the series avoids simply labeling them as either good or bad.
Reviews are mixed, so it remains to be seen whether audiences will like the show more or less than critics do.
The first two episodes of Imperfect Women are now streaming on Apple TV, with new episodes released every Wednesday.
