Electronica trio Rüfüs Du Sol announce 2025 Australian and New Zealand tour dates... but not all fans are happy

As a seasoned concert-goer with countless shows under my belt, I must say that the announcement of Rüfüs Du Sol’s 2025 Australian and New Zealand tour has left me both excited and slightly bewildered. On one hand, their electrifying performances are always a treat, especially after the success of their latest albums Surrender and Inhale/Exhale. On the other, having to wait over a year for the dance music trio’s live act feels like an eternity in today’s fast-paced world.

Following the release of their newest album, the electronica group Rüfüs Du Sol from Sydney has unveiled plans for an Australian and New Zealand tour in 2025.

The makers of the popular song “You Were Right” are planning a six-city tour, starting with a performance in Perth on November 7 of next year.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that our renowned band is embarking on a tour starting with Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. The grand finale will be held in Auckland on November 29th. Can’t wait!

On their Instagram post on Wednesday, the band hinted that they would be sharing some exciting news about upcoming concerts in the UK and Europe, which they plan to announce tomorrow.

The dance troupe consisting of Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George, and James Hunt hinted at an upcoming unveiling in North America happening relatively quickly.

Their 1.3 million Instagram followers welcomed the news with great joy, but some disappointed fans found it frustrating to have to wait such a long time before they could watch the trio perform live.

A spectator, assuming that the band’s 2025 world tour would culminate with performances in Australia at its conclusion, found it puzzling that they didn’t begin their tour Down Under.

In simpler words, they expressed their confusion as to why the tour didn’t start in Australia, considering that they were already at home.

Why is it taking over a year for them to appear, leaving everyone on hold? I may not be Australian myself, but I still can’t help feeling empathetic.

‘I can’t wait that long,’ another wrote while a third chimed in with: ‘An entire year? My Lord.’

A different audience member, alluding to the band’s Sydney Harbour sunset performance from last Friday, expressed similar dissatisfaction over the prolonged delay as well.

‘A year prior, tickets for their tour were already on sale. They’re performing in November, which is during the warmer season.’

‘But yes, it sucks they’re literally here and we have to wait a year for a proper your. They did one p**sy show in Sydney last minute and the rest of us miss out.’

During their upcoming tour, the band will be supported by UK singer songwriter SG Lewis.

Artist presale for tickets to the Australian and New Zealand shows begins on October 22, followed by general public sale starting October 24.

Rüfüs Du Sol is scheduled to lead all three stages of the Argentinean version of Lollapalooza, which takes place in March 2025 as part of its South American tour.

After achieving the top spot with their fourth album Surrender on the ARIA chart, Rüfüs Du Sol recently unveiled their long-awaited new release, Inhale/Exhale, just a week ago.

The award-winning band expressed that this particular album holds great significance to them. They are immensely proud of it and all that it symbolizes in their collective journey.

For this project, we composed numerous pieces of music collaboratively. From the outset, our aim was to produce something grander and more profound than anything we’ve shared before.

It’s amazing to reflect upon the fact that we’ve been working jointly on this project for nearly fifteen years. What’s even more astounding is that we’ve produced five albums, and our enthusiasm for creating music together remains unchanged since the beginning.

Last week, Rüfüs Du Sol thrilled Australians with a unique open-air show at Sydney Harbor as part of their latest album launch.

A large number of people accumulated at Mrs. Macquarie’s Point for a ticketed event, where a dance music group put on a show in the Royal Botanic Gardens, entertaining the audience with their music.

Although there was a great deal of interest in the unique concert, fortunate spectators enjoyed the show from their lavish yachts anchored in Sydney Harbor.

Initially, the group went by the name Rüfüs when they first started out, but later changed it to Rüfüs Du Sol in America to prevent being mistaken for another funk band called Rufus that already existed.

Established in 2010, this electronic music group experienced a significant rise in popularity in 2013. Their first album, Atlas, peaked at the top of the charts in Australia that year.

They later scored an Aria award in 2015 for best dance release for their single You Were Right.

In the year 2022, the three-piece group received a distinguished Grammy award in the category of best dance/electronic recording, acknowledging their hit song titled “Alive”.

The band has just received an impressive total of four nominations for the ARIA Awards 2024: one in the category for Best Dance/Electronica Release, another for Best Video, a third for Best Australian Live Act, and lastly, Best Group.
