Elder Scrolls Fans Say Goodbye To Delisted Game

Bethesda is ending support for The Elder Scrolls: Blades in 2026. The game, which spent a year in early access and six years after its official launch, will no longer be playable after June 30th.

The game announced a special sale before it closes down. Until then, all in-game items are available for just 1 Gem or 1 Sigil. Plus, every player who logs in will get a free pack of Gems and Sigils, enough to buy anything they want from the store. Avian81 also shared the news on Reddit.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades Is Shutting Down

After Seven Years Of Free-To-Play Content

This game, originally released on mobile in 2019 and then on the Nintendo Switch in 2020, sparked some debate. Its story bridges the gap between the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, explaining what happened during that time.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades stood out from other games in the series by focusing more on action and less on open-world exploration and stealth. It received a lot of criticism for requiring in-app purchases, but with the game shutting down soon, players will at least be able to experience everything it has to offer without needing to spend real money.

The game received very poor reviews, scoring only 42 on Metacritic and a 2.8 from users. However, despite the negative reception, it was downloaded over a million times on iOS and even more on Android within its first week.

Fans Have Mixed Feelings

Many Wish It Would Simply Go Offline

The mobile game The Elder Scrolls: Blades will no longer be available on any devices, including the Nintendo Switch, after June 30, 2026. This means players will lose access to the game and all their progress.

Many players believe the best fix is simple: Bethesda should let people play the game without an internet connection. While it seemed unlikely, fans hoped Bethesda would follow Nintendo’s example with Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. When that game shut down, Nintendo released a full version without any in-app purchases.

It looks like The Elder Scrolls: Blades is heading towards shutdown, similar to what’s happened with many other free-to-play online games lately. As one Reddit user put it, it’s “just another game lost for no good reason.”
