The Elder Scrolls is a hugely popular fantasy role-playing game series, and a cat at a local pet store is named after it! It’s been 15 years since the last major Elder Scrolls game came out, but this cat shows how much of an impact the series still has on fans, even without a new release in over a decade.
Bethesda recently released Starfield, but many fans are still eagerly awaiting news about the next Elder Scrolls game. It’s been years since the first (and only) trailer for Elder Scrolls 6 was shown back in 2018 at the E3 convention, and there haven’t been any official updates since. Because of this, many dedicated players continue to revisit classics like Skyrim or the remastered Oblivion. The fanbase is so committed that some are even naming their pets after characters from the series!
Elder Scrolls Fan Comes Across M’aiq the Liar in Real Life at a Local Pet Store
A Reddit user named CaptainAwesomePants recently spotted a cat at their local PetSmart with a funny and familiar name: M’aiq the Liar. Fans of The Elder Scrolls series will recognize this as a reference to a recurring character – a mysterious Khajiit known for delivering strange and enigmatic messages. M’aiq the Liar first appeared in Morrowind and has since made appearances in Oblivion, Skyrim, and The Elder Scrolls Online. Considered by many to be one of the most memorable characters in the games, M’aiq the Liar’s influence has now extended into the real world, becoming the official name of a sweet, fluffy cat.
A cat up for adoption perfectly embodies the spirit of M’aiq the Liar! A photo shared by CaptainAwesomePants shows this brown and black tabby with a hilariously mischievous look – it’s clear why the name fits so well. The cat’s coloring is also similar to the character from The Elder Scrolls. While many people name their pets after video game characters, it’s a fun coincidence to see such a unique name come to life!
We’re not sure if M’aiq the Liar is still available, but he’d be a fantastic pet for anyone who loves The Elder Scrolls games. A post by CaptainAwesomePants has sparked a lot of excitement, with fans asking about the PetSmart location hoping to find him. M’aiq the Liar is a rare character players can encounter in The Elder Scrolls, and finding him at this pet store feels like bringing a piece of the game to life.
