Elden Ring Nightreign is Ditching One of the Souls Series Most Iconic Features
As a devoted fan, I’m sharing the news that FromSoftware has announced a change for “Elden Ring Nightreign” within the Souls series. In this new co-op survival game, it appears that one of our cherished features may take a backseat due to time constraints. Typically, gaming sessions are expected to last around 40 minutes or so.
Historically, games like Elden Ring, Demon’s Souls, and Dark Souls series have provided the option for players to write messages for each other, either warning about dangers or pointing out hidden treasures ahead, or sometimes misguiding them (typically into a pit or off a cliff edge). In contrast, this feature won’t be included in Nightreign.
According to Game Director Junya Ishizaki, although you can still observe the spirits of previous players, the option to send messages has been taken out. This change was made because, in this game with sessions lasting approximately 40 minutes each, there’s simply no time for players to compose their own messages or read those left by others.
In addition to its unique elements, Elden Ring Nightreign will incorporate adversaries that were initially found in the game Dark Souls. The game supports both single-player and cooperative play among three players; however, it does not offer a two-player option. Furthermore, an intriguing change for the series is that defeated enemies will not reappear when you take a break at a ‘Site of Grace’. In contrast to previous titles, where foes would resurface whenever healing and saving occurred at bonfires.
The game titled “Elden Ring Nightreign” is set to arrive on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC towards the end of this year. A network test for it has been planned for the month of February.
