Elden Ring Nightreign Features Dark Souls Enemies, No 2-Player Co-Op, is Not a Live-Service Game
As a seasoned gamer with years of Dark Souls and Elden Ring under my belt, the announcement of “Elden Ring Nightreign” has me both excited and intrigued. The prospect of facing off against familiar foes from Dark Souls in this new survival game spin-off is tantalizing. I’ve spent countless hours dodging, parrying, and strategically outmaneuvering those formidable adversaries, so the thought of taking on a new challenge with them is a thrill that sends shivers down my spine.
In a recent disclosure, Game Director Junya Ishizaki of the upcoming cooperative spin-off titled ‘Elden Ring Nightreign’, has confirmed that it will feature adversaries reminiscent of those encountered in the Dark Souls series. This revelation was sparked by some attentive fans noticing The Nameless King from Dark Souls 3, within the game’s debut trailer.
In an interview with Famitsu (as reported by Eurogamer), Ishizaki shared additional details. Nightreign isn’t a live-service game, although it has certain multiplayer features like those in such games. Additionally, its price will be around the same as Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, which is approximately $40 or £35.
The developer mentioned that cross-play functionality is not included (however, players can still team up within the same console family), and they’ve decided against offering two-player co-op mode. Instead, you can either play by yourself or join a three-person cooperative group. In both cases, you’ll experience a three-day cycle that transitions from day to night, culminating in a final confrontation with the Nightlord.
In February 2025, you’ll get a chance to savor the numerous charms of Elden Ring Nightreign’s world, Limvald, during our upcoming network test, before the official release later in the same year.
