Konami is reportedly planning something big for the next season of eFootball 2026, coinciding with the World Cup. Recent reports suggest they are in advanced talks with football icons Ronaldo Nazário and Thierry Henry to feature them in the game.
According to ZahafcPes, a reliable source of information, KONAMI is beginning talks with representatives for both legendary players. However, a deal isn’t guaranteed, and those involved say it’s still very uncertain whether it will happen.
KONAMI reportedly wants a major legend signing before the World Cup events
The report indicates that eFootball is aiming to gain an advantage over EA Sports’ FC series during the World Cup. To do this, they are reportedly trying to sign at least one famous football player to boost their visibility before the tournament starts gaining global attention.
Nothing is confirmed yet, and securing licenses from famous players is always a complex process. While it’s great that people are excited, we shouldn’t anticipate any announcements in the very near future.
As early as December 2025, rumors started circulating that KONAMI was in discussions with Thierry Henry about featuring him in eFootball 2026. Leaks indicated he might be added as a high-level “Legend Epic” card, and possibly even a special, enhanced version like the one given to Zlatan Ibrahimović.
Okay, so I’ve been keeping up with the eFootball news, and things have been hinting at a ton of new legends for a while now. Back in July 2025, people spotted ads in the Chinese version of the game teasing players like Thierry Henry and John Terry. Then, just last month in June, a huge leak showed a list of over 50 legends coming – seriously, names like Pelé, Ronaldo Nazário, Laudrup, and even Zidane were on it! And for the most part, they’ve actually started adding them to the game, which is awesome.
Although these recent reports aren’t confirmed, the consistent talk about Henry and Ronaldo over the last year is certainly noteworthy.
