The latest eFootball 2026 v5.4.0 update from KONAMI introduces a new take on Master League. It’s not the full offline mode many fans hoped for, but rather “Master League Sprint” – a week-long event that lets you experience the essence of team building and management over a condensed season.
This game feels a lot like My League, but it emphasizes building and managing your team more. What’s really cool is you don’t have to play every match yourself – it actually makes the game more about strategy than it appears. I’ve put together a Master League Sprint Guide for eFootball 2026 to answer all your questions.
Master League Sprint in eFootball 2026 Overview
Master League Sprint lets you manage your own soccer club through an entire season. You’ll build and control your team, playing match after match with the goal of becoming league champions. You start by choosing a team from the league you prefer, and then the season schedule unfolds before you.
You’ll begin with a team featuring classic Master League players such as Castolo and Minanda, plus a few standard supporting players. Your goal is to develop the club by earning funds and signing new talent to strengthen your squad over time.
The game advances quickly because not all matches require your direct control, unlike in My League. Only certain matches are designated as ‘user-controlled,’ meaning you’ll play them hands-on. For the rest, you can use the Auto Control feature to let the game play for you.
Most matches are actually ‘Synergy Matches,’ which the game automatically sets up based on how strong your team is. This changes things – winning isn’t about how good you are at the game, but about making sure your team is well-prepared before each match.
Core gameplay of the Master League Sprint
Understanding Synergy
Unlike Dream Team which used overall ratings, Master League Sprint focuses on Synergy to show how strong a team is. Synergy isn’t just about how good the players are individually; it also takes into account their stamina and current form.
Team structure is also important – just having highly skilled players isn’t always enough to win. Synergy shows how likely your team is to succeed, but it doesn’t guarantee victory. You can still lose, even if your team has better synergy than the opposition.
This is especially clear in games that play out automatically, where you don’t directly control the action. Things like your chosen players, their current form, and how much energy they have all significantly impact the results, and these automated games make up most of this mode.
The game sometimes gives bonuses or penalties depending on your team’s composition. While there’s one helpful combination, all others have negative effects.
| Condition | Synergy Impact |
|---|---|
| Bonus Players (example: Castolo) | +100 |
| Only one CB in lineup | -500 |
| Two or fewer CB, RB and LB combined | -500 |
| Four forwards (FWs) | -500 |
| Five forwards (FWs) | -500 |
| RB and LB not positioned properly on right/left | -500 |
| RMF and LMF not positioned properly | -500 |
| RWF and LWF not positioned properly | -500 |
When it comes to positioning my team, I usually just pick one of the pre-set formations. Honestly, they work really well because they’re solid and straightforward – way better than some of the crazy strategies we try to pull off online with friends!
Understanding the Lives system
The Lives system can seem a bit intimidating initially, but it’s really just a way to manage energy. We’re still working on making its appearance less scary, but for now, let’s keep going!
You start with 10 Lives, and each game you play uses one. Don’t worry about running out completely, though – your Lives will slowly refill over time. Think of it like the energy system in older PES games – you can always come back and play more after taking a break.
Squad Management and player transfers
Player management and condition
Effectively managing your team is key to success in this game mode. Always check your players’ stamina and condition before each match – Synergy isn’t reliable, so you need to build a team that plays well together to maximize your potential.
Even your strongest players can hurt your team’s performance if they’re tired or not playing well. Swapping them out for players with more energy or better recent form usually improves your chances of winning, particularly in simulated games.
Player signing and releasing
This transfer system uses points as its main form of currency. You earn these points by playing games and advancing in the season, and you can then use them to sign new players. What’s unique is that you’re not restricted to signing only typical players.
You can add players from your Dream Team to your current team. They won’t start at their highest level, but they’re still helpful, particularly at the beginning when it’s easier to improve their skills. You can also sign managers in the same way, whether they’re from your Dream Team or regular players.
You can also let go of players, which earns you points. Releasing highly skilled players will give you even more points.
Progression explained for Master League Sprint in eFootball 2026
Your progress in Master League Sprint depends on how you play throughout the season. Winning games, building a team with great chemistry, and making smart player transfers to ensure you have solid substitutes all help you improve.
You earn points and supporters as rewards, and both are key to improving your team and advancing in this mode. Points let you sign new players, while supporters unlock milestone rewards that you can then use within the Dream Team mode.
Before you start a match you manage, you can select how challenging it will be. Playing on higher difficulties gives you more points and fans. If your team doesn’t seem strong enough, you don’t need to choose the hardest difficulty level.
Throughout the season, you’ll face random events called Episodes that impact your team. These can be positive – like improving a player’s fitness or helping them develop – but they can also lead to injuries or a player temporarily performing below their usual level.
