eFootball 2026 Fabio Capello Manager Guide: Best formations, instructions, and tactics

Many eFootball 2026 players are finding the ‘Link Up for Managers’ feature intriguing, as it allows for unique team builds and formations. One manager who’s particularly popular with players is Fabio Capello.

I couldn’t resist buying this manager with 750 coins, and now Fabio Capello is my go-to! Since I spent a lot of time figuring out the best way to use him, I wanted to share a guide to help you get the most out of Fabio Capello in eFootball 2026.

eFootball 2026 Fabio Capello Manager Guide: Introduction

Fabio Capello was unexpectedly added in the September 2025 update, and he’s a relatively expensive player to acquire. In the 91-92 version of the game, he has an Over-the-Top Pass A Link-Up Playstyle, and excels at both Long Ball Counter and standard Long Ball tactics.

The Link-Up play revolves around two key players: the Orchestrator (acting as the central playmaker) and the Goal Poacher. When the Orchestrator has the ball in their own half, the Goal Poacher makes a quick run forward to open up passing lanes. This, combined with the Orchestrator’s improved accuracy on long passes, makes their attacks very dangerous.

Managers with two boosts also impact a player’s overall rating, and Fabio Capello benefited from a particularly strong combination: +1 to both Finishing and Defensive Awareness. This creates a well-rounded balance between attacking and defending. While improving Passing instead of Defensive Awareness could have been effective, the current combination is a better fit.

Best formations using Fabio Capello in eFootball 2026

I have two formations that will come in handy for both Long Ball Counter and Long Ball.

1) 5-2-1-2

Fabio Capello often uses a 5-2-1-2 formation, which might seem focused on defense. However, within his ‘Over-the-Top Pass A’ system, it actually creates a great setup for quickly launching counterattacks.

This formation uses three central defenders and two players on the wings for a very solid defense that can handle a lot of pressure. Two midfielders shield the defense and quickly win the ball back. An attacking midfielder plays just behind two forwards, linking them together, and the wing-backs run wide to offer passing options.

When the midfield team regains possession, they can quickly send long passes forward to the two strikers, who are skilled at finding and running into open spaces behind the opposing defense. This strategy works particularly well against teams that aggressively push forward, leaving vulnerabilities in their defensive line.

2) 4-3-1-2

This formation works well with a LBC strategy. Compared to the 5-2-1-2, it strengthens your midfield, giving you better control of the game without sacrificing your ability to counterattack.

Using three central midfielders, including one who sits deep and controls the play, gives your team a solid base when building attacks. The attacking midfielder then moves forward to help the strikers. Up front, I like to use a combination of a Poacher – a striker who looks for chances to finish – and a Forward who can play anywhere in the attack.

This formation naturally encourages short, quick passing combinations in midfield. When your team gains possession, players can move the ball efficiently through the center of the field, and then switch to a long pass towards the forwards – unless your strategy already favors direct, long balls from the start.

Player Recommendations and Key Stats

Centrepiece (Orchestrator/DMF)

We’re looking for a central midfielder who’s strong defensively and good at distributing the ball with long, accurate passes. A passing stat of around 90 would be ideal. Focus on players with high ‘Lofted Pass’ ratings, as many ‘Orchestrator’ style players naturally excel in passing.

As a fellow player, I’ve found that defense is just as important as attack! You really need to focus on your defensive stats – specifically, make sure your Defensive Awareness and Engagement are both around the 80s. Also, I always build my teams with a defensive midfielder who’s more of a ‘B2B’ or Anchorman type alongside my playmaker. It’s not about having an overly aggressive player there, you need someone solid and reliable to protect the back line.

Recommended Skills: Through Passing, Weighted Pass, One Touch Pass

Key Man (Goal Poacher/CF)

Players who make runs need good movement and the ability to finish chances effectively. I found that strikers with very high attacking awareness often get caught offside. I think the ideal striker rating is between 91 and 95.

To get the most out of your striker, finishing should definitely be above 90. It also helps if they can control the ball well. Key skills to look for are dribbling, speed, and balance. While not every player excels in all areas, most modern striker cards are fairly well-rounded. A good combination would be dribbling and balance around 80, and speed in the 90s.
