Konami is releasing a new pack for eFootball 2026 called Epic Maestro, featuring legendary midfielders Yaya Touré, Thiago Alcântara, and Xabi Alonso. The pack, arriving on Monday, highlights three distinct midfield styles.
All three characters are learning the Attack Trigger Show Time skill. Since we haven’t received the full update yet, this is just a first look, but it’s enough to start deciding if they’ll be strong enough to focus on, or if it’s best to wait and see how they perform.
eFootball 2026 Epic Maestro players
Thiago Alcântara
- Position: CMF
- Playing Style: Hole Player
- Show Time Skill: Attack Trigger and Phenomenal Pass
I was honestly surprised when I started using Thiago as a hole player! When I looked at his stats and saw he was an Orchestrator on his Barcelona card, I figured that’s what he’d be good at. But this version is different – they’re really pushing him forward to play a more attacking role, and it’s working!
His core strengths remain unchanged – he still excels at ball control, close dribbling, and passing. He’ll feel even more fluid with the ball, particularly with the recent improvements to dribbling. Plus, the new Phenomenal Pass ability makes playing him as an attacking midfielder (AMF) even more effective.
What’s really notable is how the Attack Trigger ability alters his gameplay. It encourages him to move forward more, potentially making him a better option in offensive strategies. While he’s not a dedicated attacking midfielder, he’s more like a sophisticated central midfielder who maintains control of the game and contributes to attacks when the opportunity arises.
The main question is whether this approach suits his skills. While it’s possible to reach a good finishing level around 80 with the right setup, we generally prefer to see players consistently performing around 85 for reliable all-around performance.
Xabi Alonso
- Position: DMF
- Playing Style: Orchestrator
- Show Time Skill: Attack Trigger and Visionary Pass
This Xabi Alonso card is solid, as you’d expect, but it doesn’t really offer anything new. He excels at passing, stays calm under pressure, and dictates the pace of the game from midfield.
He’s a solid defender – he positions himself well and tackles reliably. However, he doesn’t overpower opponents with his physical strength. While his physical stats aren’t outstanding, he compensates with smart positioning rather than aggressive tackling.
The Attack Trigger ability is useful, especially with accurate passing, and pairs well with the Visionary Pass trait for your forwards. Ultimately, though, it depends on whether this style of player fits your team. If you’re familiar with previous Xabi cards, you’ll quickly understand how this one plays.
🔥 Epic Monday Update! 🔥
Introducing the new ‘Attack Trigger’ skill for eFootball!
Here’s how it applies to some top players:
Xabi Alonso – Designated as an ‘Orchestrator’ with ‘Attack Trigger’ and excellent vision for passes.
Thiago Alcântara – A versatile ‘Hole Player’ who also utilizes ‘Attack Trigger’ and delivers phenomenal passes.
Yaya Touré – A powerful ‘Box-to-Box’ midfielder with ‘Attack Trigger’ and a strong defensive presence (‘Fortress’).
Stay tuned for more updates! #eFootball

Yaya Touré
- Position: DMF
- Playing Style: Box-to-Box
- Show Time Skill: Attack Trigger and Fortress
Okay, so this player is a bit of a mixed bag, honestly. The numbers are definitely impressive – he’s physically strong, a good defender, has alright speed, and can really drive with the ball. I don’t think his style of play – a real box-to-box midfielder – will change things too much, but he’s got great stats and seems like a super reliable, well-rounded player overall.
Things really shift with this new Touré card. Previous versions, like the Anchor Man, focused on controlling the midfield. This one is much more dynamic and moves around a lot more. I think the Attack Trigger trait is a great addition – it’s a better fit than the other two options.
I’m not sure why they included Fortress; I really don’t care for it. I think Long Reach Tackle would have been a much better addition. This change weakens the strong, controlling defensive midfielder role that players enjoyed.
