eFootball 2025 Epic National Guardians (Nesta, Caceres, Lloris) pack review

Story Highlights

2025’s eFootball version introduces another exceptional defensive collection, known as the Epic National Guardians pack. This time around, the focus is on three esteemed international football players: Alessandro Nesta, Martin Caceres, and Hugo Lloris.

In this game, an overwhelming number of attack cards have been used. Nevertheless, it’s a nice change. However, it remains to be seen if these three selections provide sufficient in-game value. Thus, I will evaluate how well the defensive lineup functions and whether they live up to the anticipation surrounding them, as part of this pack review.

Or simpler: During gameplay, we’ve seen a lot of attacking cards. It’s refreshing! However, it’s unclear if these three choices offer good in-game value. Here, I will assess the defensive team’s performance and whether they are worth all the excitement in this pack review.

National Guardians Epic pack in eFootball 2025

150 players are arranged in a repeating sequence, and within this sequence, there are sets of 3 special cards known as Epics. Among these Epics, 2 possess the unique ability called “Show Time,” whereas the remaining 1 is an ordinary Epic card.

Alessandro Nesta

  • Position: CB
  • Playing Style: Destroyer
  • Showtime Skill: Aerial Fort

Previously, I didn’t possess a Nesta card. Utilizing the 850 free coins I obtained, I attempted to acquire one, but unfortunately, I spent all of them on 4-Star cards instead. Despite this, I managed to play with the Nesta card through the multiple accounts my friends have kindly shared with me. Upon first use, I found him remarkably versatile, appearing frequently in the game.

In this slot, Nesta plays like a traditional enforcer, delighting those who appreciate old-school defensive strategies. His playstyle embodies a straightforward, no-frills approach. He seemingly anticipates the game’s flow and effectively curtails actions with a composed demeanor. He boasts decent speed and acceleration, ensuring he can recover quickly if ever found out of position.

Initially, I had my doubts about his “Aerial Fort” ability, but it’s quite robust. He nearly wins 8 out of 10 aerial battles. However, I still lean towards someone taller like Van Dijk to partner him up. I’ll be giving a slightly higher rating (12) to his aerial skills compared to defending (10), when allocating progression points.

Martin Caceres

  • Position: LB
  • Playing Style: Offensive Fullback
  • Showtime Skill: Fortress

In a surprising twist, Caceres could catch many off guard in this group. Although primarily labeled an offensive wingback, I’ve found myself positioning him across various defensive roles. Frankly, he radiates such strong “central defender” energy that it’s hard not to consider playing him there.

I made that statement because he excels at center back, particularly with the right physique, to an astonishing degree of 107. Although his overall statistics may not show this, his performance in the game is remarkable. This versatility makes him an impressive asset as he can be deployed as a center back, full-back, or even a wide center-back in a three-person defense.

If you’re considering this player, I’d recommend going for a 4-10-10-13 build. This will significantly boost his Speed into the 90s with the addition of the Duelling booster, making him a formidable center back option. Despite maintaining his base LB numbers, he offers a unique blend of ball-playing skills and solid defense, making him an appealing choice for any team.

Hugo Lloris

  • Position: GK
  • Playing Style: Offensive Goalkeeper
  • Showtime Skill: None

Hugo Lloris has ultimately received an exceptional card, and truthfully, I can’t find any reason to grumble. They’ve crafted his stats to appear quite strong. Having experimented with his initial cards, he responds promptly to nearby shots and manages long-range shots fairly well too.

I found a 9-9-10 build to be satisfying as it encompasses all essential attributes for a goalkeeper. He possesses an impressive low pass ability and surprisingly excels in every skill required for a goalkeeper. Although he may not have the renowned name of a Cech, Peter or Buffon, this keeper is one you can depend on.

Best Epic card from the National Guardians pack in eFootball 2025

While many may not be drawn to this pack due to its relatively simple names, apart from Nesta, it’s important to note that if you’re looking for a solid backline, you definitely shouldn’t overlook it. Caceres exhibits stats reminiscent of a mini-Thuram card, so I would strongly recommend considering this card among the three.
