As an ardent fan of both Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch, I must say their latest collaboration in “The Day of the Jackal” has me absolutely thrilled! Despite the duo barely crossing paths during filming due to their cat-and-mouse storyline, their camaraderie during promotions is a pure delight. It’s like witnessing two old friends reminiscing about a shared secret adventure, albeit one that took place on the silver screen rather than a real-life escapade.

In a recent interview, Eddie Redmayne shared that he had limited interaction with his on-screen partner Lashana Lynch while filming their exciting new show, as they primarily took leading roles.

On Thursday, the actors aged 42 and 36, who play the characters Jackal and Bianca in the suspenseful TV series “The Day of the Jackal,” appeared as guests on BBC Radio 1 with host Nick Grimshaw, who is 40 years old.

Instead, Eddie shared that the process of advertising the series has been particularly enjoyable since it allows them to socialize and spend quality time with each other.

Eddie mentioned that despite both of them appearing in the series, they hardly had a chance to meet during the filming process because they seldom saw each other.

‘Because it was kind of a cat and mouse story and we’re kept apart for a huge amount of it.’

He confessed: ‘So, the promoting (side) has been the fun bit because we got to hang out and spend time together.’

Lashana concurred with Eddie, expressing that indeed they “have spent a whole year discussing every little detail of the show, given our roles as producers.

Throughout the entire journey, we’ve witnessed all the edits and transitions, and it’s been a truly delightful experience to get to know one another during this process.

Eddie explained to the radio host his reasons for joining the latest series, which is a contemporary adaptation of the classic film and novel.

Initially reluctant about taking on the role, Eddie admitted, “I had a soft spot for the original film and the novel from my childhood.

Upon receiving the scripts in my inbox, I felt an overwhelming sense of apprehension, as no one wants to unintentionally damage something cherished.

After reviewing the revised script, he remarked, “It appears the story has been modernized, and the scripts were incredibly engaging. They seemed remarkably current and novel.

However, it preserved the essence of what made the original so captivating – the intriguing cat-and-mouse game, and the unpredictable nature of Jackal who can transform like a chameleon. You’ll never be sure of what to expect with him.

Upon reaching the London studio, Eddie presented a relaxed demeanor, clad in a beige sweater featuring a striking brown and cream vertical band across the chest.

He teamed the jumper with a pair of blue denim jeans and sported a pair of casual black-and-white trainers.

Simultaneously, Lashana, his fellow actor, glowed in a grey dress as she proudly displayed her growing belly, indicating her pregnancy.

She teamed the dress with a cream coat and sported a pair of comfy ballet flats as she entered the studio.

In this television show, Lashana takes on the character of Bianca, a role inspired by the book with the identical title, penned by Frederick Forsyth.

According to an IMDB summary, the series follows a high-stakes manhunt for a ruthless, mysterious assassin, who goes by the name “The Jackal.

In a different rendition, Eddie assumes the role of the elusive Jackal, while Lashana’s character spearheads the mission to unmask his true identity.

Prior to the debut of the show, the star of No Time To Die recently shared insights about portraying Bianca with Entertainment Weekly last month.

She explained: ‘She is so determined to be this strange version of human superhero. And I say strange version because it’s all the twisted elements of things that you would hope that a human wouldn’t do when doing good for the world.’

Her work method inevitably leads to some reduction or compromise, and regrettably for her, this cost and mental strain are justified.

Regarding both her character and Jackal, Lashana stated: “There are striking resemblances between individuals who work for good and those who work for evil. Ultimately, they’re all just carrying out their respective duties.

The Day of the Jackal premieres on Sky Atlantic and NOW on November 7.
