According to reports, the actor-comedian who received an Oscar nomination tied the knot with his girlfriend, Australian model Paige Butcher, on Tuesday. This surprising news came just days after the release of his newest film, “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.”
A private wedding ceremony took place on Anguilla, an Eastern Caribbean island, where the couple exchanged vows, as shared in a report by People on Friday. Butcher donned a lace wedding dress designed by Mira Zwillinger, while Murphy wore a matching white Brioni suit.
A representative for Murphy confirmed the report to The Times.
Murphy, aged 62, and Butcher, 44, have been fiancés since 2018, having started their relationship back in 2012. They are said to have crossed paths on the set of “Big Momma’s House 2” before that. The duo is blessed with an 8-year-old daughter named Izzy Oona and a 5-year-old son, Max Charles.
The actor who voices Shrek in the animated films is the father of eight other children from past relationships, one of whom is his ex-wife Nicole Mitchell Murphy. They divorced in 2006.
At the recent Netflix debut of “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” Murphy was accompanied by his daughter Bria. In this film, she portrays a police officer role.
In an interview on “Today,” Murphy shared, “I’m the one getting arrested in the story.” He added, “And during another arrest scene in the film, it’s my son-in-law delivering the shock to my neck with a stun gun.”
The fourth part of the “Beverly Hills Cop” action-comedy franchise, titled “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” is a continuation of the storyline from “Beverly Hills Cop III” (released in 1994). This installment became available on Netflix starting July 3.
