Ed Sheeran reveals surprising new career tangent after being inspired by his parents

He’s known for making some of the most popular tunes of the 2000s.

Instead, the well-known figure Ed Sheeran, aged 34, is setting aside his microphone momentarily to take up a paintbrush in a fresh, unforeseen creative pursuit – artmaking.

This week, the debut collection from the artist born in Ipswich, called “Cosmic Carpark Paintings,” will be available for purchase. The collection showcases an assortment of original paintings and exclusive prints, all conceptualized by him personally.

During his Mathematics tour, Ed shared that he crafted all of his artworks, inspired by celestial shapes, within an abandoned park in the heart of Central London.

He stated that he began painting towards the conclusion of his Divide Tour in 2019, and since then, it has served as an artistic outlet for him.

Growing up, as it happened, my parents were artists by profession. Thus, my inherent curiosity towards art flourished, and I always relished learning about it during my school years.

Last year, I frequently traveled for tours, but during my free time in the United Kingdom, I found solace in painting. Every morning, I would dash to an abandoned parking lot in Soho, paint there, then sprint home. This routine continued daily until I embarked on my next tour leg.

Damien Hirst inspired Ed to consider the opportunity of publishing his own artwork collection, as he shared with him.

I shared details about the paintings with my close pals, Damien Hirst and Joe Hage, who motivated me to pursue my unique artistic path.

I chose to employ this resource to finance my Ed Sheeran Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting music education within the United Kingdom. This includes funding various initiatives like community music programs, school resources, and musical equipment. Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to engage with music.

I’d like to express my gratitude to Damien and Joe for their invaluable contributions during the exhibition. I’m thrilled to present this work.

The HENI Gallery on Lexington Street, London, will showcase a collection of paintings from July 11 to August 1.

As a dedicated lifestyle enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that 50% of every penny earned from the initial sales and a generous £300 from each printed piece, will be channeled directly towards the noble cause supported by the Ed Sheeran Foundation. This way, we not only create beautiful pieces but also contribute significantly to a worthy endeavor.

Ed’s recent professional change occurred just weeks following an unexpected event, where a picture of his less frequently seen spouse’s LinkedIn profile emerged and left fans in astonishment.

Meanwhile, as the Grammy-winning artist continues to fill arenas worldwide with his electrifying performances, it’s been discovered that his wife, Cherry Seaborn, has been steadily climbing the corporate ladder and amassing an impressive professional portfolio behind the scenes.

A widely-shared screenshot of her LinkedIn profile showed that Cherry has accumulated numerous years of experience as a manager at the consulting company, Deloitte.

Following the dissemination of the picture on what was once known as Twitter, it ignited an outpouring of praise and astonishment across various digital platforms.

Apart from handling a high-pressure job in the corporate world and being married to a globally recognized musician, Cherry took a break from her career to focus on acquiring more knowledge through additional education.

On her resume, you’ll find she holds a Master’s degree from Duke University and a Professional Certificate in Sustainable Enterprise from the University of Cambridge.

Previously, she had accumulated almost nine years of experience with Deloitte, working in both their London and New York branches before taking on her latest role as Manager in their Nature, Climate and Sustainability – Innovation department.

Ed and Cherry met back when they were teenagers at their high schools in Suffolk.

They reconnected in 2015 while both were living in New York City, and tied the knot in 2018.

Since then, they’ve welcomed two daughters: Lyra in 2020 and Jupiter in 2022.
