Ed Sheeran poses for selfies with fans while watching beloved football team Ipswich Town win against Wolves as his cousin reveals the REAL reason behind their very bitter feud
As a seasoned observer of the dynamic world of music and entertainment, I find myself both captivated and dismayed by the tumultuous tale of Ed Sheeran and his cousin Jethro Sheerat (I’ll take artistic liberties here). The narrative unfolds like a gripping drama, filled with dreams, ambitions, family ties, and the raw power of creativity.
On Saturdays, I find myself beaming with joy while supporting my beloved Ipswich Town as they lock horns with opponents like Wolves. This past weekend, the thrill was palpable as we triumphed 2-1 in our Premier League matchup at Molineux, leaving me absolutely ecstatic!
The singer’s cousin revealed the existence of a deep-seated family rift by lifting the veil, stating unequivocally that they would no longer communicate with the celebrity.
Instead of letting his cousin spoil his sports event outing, Ed appeared to enjoy himself, flashing broad smiles while posing for pictures with enthusiastic spectators.
Despite the chilly British climate, the talented coat-wearer donned a lengthy black parka, emblazoned with the logo of his favorite football team, on its front.
Ed Sheeran, known for singing “The Shape of You,” beamed with happiness as he engaged in lively conversation with Mark Ashton, the CEO of Premier League clubs.
In the game, Jack Taylor scored a late header that clinched a win for Ipswich Town, making it a crucial blow in their fight against relegation. This puts extra stress on Wolves manager Gary O’Neil.
Molineux already felt toxic with chants against chairman Jeff Shi and the Fosun ownership when Matt Doherty’s own goal put the visitors ahead after 15 minutes.
Matheus Cunha netted an important goal in the 72nd minute, tying the game, however, in the last offensive play, Jack Clarke’s corner kick was transformed into a goal by another Tractors Boy substitute.
On the Suffolk team’s side, they are now just one point away from securing their safety, while O’Neil finds himself almost at the bottom and anxiously awaiting the opportunity to lead his team in the upcoming match against Leicester next week.
Ed’s elder cousin, Jethro Sheeran (who is nine years senior to the musician), has stated that he significantly impacted Ed’s musical preferences and inspirations as he embarked on his journey as a singer-songwriter.
As a child, when today’s renowned musician was still finding his footing, he often spent school breaks socializing and composing his initial tunes alongside the cousin he admired, collaborating on their earliest recordings together.
Over time, however, their paths diverged significantly: Ed garnered worldwide fame as a pop sensation, amassing an estimated wealth of £375 million through numerous hits, whereas Jethro, aged 42 now, is still striving for chart success and resides with his mother.
Initially, their paths separated with the evolution of their professions, leading to a growing distance between them. However, a heated argument ensued recently among the once-estranged relatives – following the legal action taken by Warner Music to demand that he cease using Ed’s name for commercial purposes.
In an exclusive conversation with TopMob, Jethro has now levied allegations that his well-known 33-year-old relative is orchestrating a private grudge through the approval of legal action threatening to sue his music label against him.
For the first time addressing the issue, an angry Jethro stated, “Ed is no longer considered family by me.
‘I love him because he is my blood and flesh but I don’t need to know him any more.’
In response to the question about his anger, Jethro, a resident of Bristol, explained: ‘There’s been a rift between us due to differences in music preferences, as I was the one who tried to teach him, and unfortunately, we can no longer maintain a conversation.’
‘He needs to apologise to me first but I don’t think he ever will.
I’ve been instructed to remove his name and likeness from the collaborative song we were working on, which originally featured him. Now, I wish to continue using it without him.
He amassed a fortune, yet I believe I deserved some remuneration and acknowledgment for the three songs I composed and produced that he used to appeal to his audience, based on an oral agreement we shared.
Additionally, I wished to utilize the same resources, yet I’ve been barred from doing so by legal means, prohibiting me from referencing his name or likeness. It seems quite absurd, doesn’t it?
‘Why wouldn’t he want to help and be kind to a family member who is an aspiring musician?’
The bone of contention that sparked the feud centred around a track called Raise Em Up which Jethro recorded with Ed in 2010. It also featured in the 2013 movie All Stars.
Jethro had recorded a remixed version which co-credited Ed and featured his face in artwork.
He was eager for another chance to put out the song, believing it could generate proceeds to support Skyla Rain Sheeran’s budding music career as an up-and-coming artist.
However, legal representatives from Jethro’s record label, Warner Music, reached out to him stating that they would file a lawsuit if he didn’t remove any mentions of Ed in the song.
Tensions flared up in September, as Warner discovered Jethro’s intentions to rework a song they both initially created with Ed 14 years ago, sparking a debate about the project.
Later on, Jethro alleged that his cousin was the one who mandated Warner Music to take legal measures against him, a claim he claims is necessary due to lack of resources for a legal fight since he can’t afford to pay for his own defense.
Speaking as a deeply devoted admirer, I must admit that his recent choices have left me disheartened and melancholic. Yet, in the spirit of sportsmanship and hopefulness, I extend my well-wishes for his future endeavors.
In a humble end-of-terrace house in Bristol, which he shares with his mother, a nurse, and splitting time between Britain and Denmark, Jethro, aged 42, stated: “I may not be a multi-millionaire like him, but I’m managing financially well enough.
‘He wants fame, money and success at all costs.’
Such is the extent of their fallout that Jetho even jokingly even refers to Ed as ‘the devil’.
Sharing a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at their domestic dynamics, Jethro – raised in the famously turbulent St Pauls area of Bristol – revealed his thoughts on how he may have influenced Ed’s musical career.
The cousins share a first-cousin relationship since their fathers are siblings. Despite the disagreements between their sons, the older generation maintains a peaceful coexistence.
As a music-obsessed admirer speaking here, I’d like to share that I, much like Jethro, hail from a colossal Irish clan, where my dear old man belongs to an extended family of eight. Growing up, the vibrant melodies that filled our home were more than just tunes; they were the heartbeat of our shared passion for music.
But it was the two cousins who took their interest further. .
Currently, Jethro, known for his hip hop fanbase, believes he outshines music legend Ed in rapping. He expresses this by stating: “He’s got a great voice, but when it comes to rapping, I surpass him, and he’s not iconic!
‘He’s not a Bob Marley or Bob Dylan, he’s great but he’s not a legend. It’s not my style of music. I am not a fan.
Although he seems approachable and many find joy in his music, I personally feel that it’s simple, much like nursery rhymes, lacking complexity, and to my taste, somewhat monotonous.
In a recent social media rant Jethro called Ed a ‘silver spoon weirdo’ as he urged fellow performer and pal Stormzy to ‘have a word’ with him.
Besides discussing music, Jethro also mentioned that he hasn’t had the chance to meet his friend’s wife – Cherry Seaborn, who is 32 years old, and the couple tied the knot in a private ceremony in January 2018. They have two daughters together: Lyra, who is four, and Jupiter, who is just two years old.
As a devoted admirer, I found myself on the receiving end of an unofficial invitation to the grand nuptials, thanks to our shared kinship. Regrettably, I couldn’t grace the occasion with my presence as I happened to be engrossed in a whirlwind adventure in the bustling metropolis of New York City during that time.
‘I have never even met Ed’s wife or their little girls. How strange is that?’
Looking back on the good old days, he mentioned, “It was I who kick-started Ed’s professional journey. We were like inseparable cousins from a large Irish clan, and we would reunite for family gatherings, birthday celebrations, weddings, and even funerals.
‘I’m nine years older than Ed and I think he looked up to me and I got him into his music.
‘We were the only two musicians in the family and we made music together.
As a loyal admirer, I wasn’t content with just sharing the inspiration behind our identical single star tattoos; I felt compelled to get one myself. Not long after, Ed followed suit, and we proudly flaunted our matching ink in unison, relishing the shared bond it symbolized.
Initially, Ed was an unknown figure, but with time and effort, he transformed himself into a tremendous achievement. He even had the opportunity to perform alongside Taylor Swift at a few concerts.
‘Now he is one of the biggest stars in the world, and I am so proud of him.’
However, Jethro remarked: “Just because we haven’t seen each other in about five to six years doesn’t imply that I must take a liking to him or desire his company.
‘He needs to say sorry to me. He’s p*****d me off, and a lot of other people too.
‘Maybe he was jealous of me?
‘I could take him to court but I haven’t because it will cost me a lot of money.’
Jethro, who proudly claims to have “plenty of vigor” and an impressive rhythmic voice, mentioned that his ideal scenario would be performing alongside Ed.
He said: ‘Can you imagine if Ed was playing Wembley and suddenly introduced me, his rapper cousin from Bristol, and we were on stage together rapping.
‘It would be wicked! You wonder why he wouldn’t do that’
Jethro went on to say: “My music sets it apart from his, and for me, my music, my loved ones, and my joy are of the utmost importance.
‘I live by my motto ‘Love strong.’
Speaking about himself, Jethro – known for having produced around 230 tracks using his own name – shared that he’s presently engaged in creating fresh hip hop tunes.
He spends part of his time in the UK and Denmark, having resided there before Brexit made it impossible for him to stay permanently. Now, he’s planning to obtain an Irish passport as a means to go back and live.
At present, he’s working in partnership with his 20-year-old daughter Skyla Rain, residing on the periphery of Copenhagen, Denmark.
His ex Trinidadian wife, who he has remained friends with, also lives in the country.
Jethro intends to ring in the New Year in Jamaica, where he’ll be working on a collaborative endeavor alongside popular Jamaican dancehall artist, Tommy Lee Sparta.
Previously, he’s worked alongside a number of renowned artists such as 2Pac, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and Snoop Dogg.
In addition, Ed was featured in one of Jethro’s music video clips, donning a hoodie and employing a crowbar to destroy a car.
And Jethro featured on the star’s singles Move On, Pause, and You Need Me, I Don’t Need You.
Even as the cousins engage in conflict and Jethro alleges that Ed poses a threat to his earnings, the financial empire of the renowned pop figure expands unabated.
In May the singer was crowned the richest young musician in the UK with £340 million.
Amongst the young British pop stars below the age of 40, it’s Harry Styles, aged 30, who currently holds the second-highest net worth. He amassed his estimated £175 million fortune primarily from his music career and acting roles in films.
Using part of his substantial fortune, Ed has lately acquired a small portion of shares in the cherished Ipswich Town Football Club he adores.
Last month Ed became embroiled in a row with Sir Bob Geldof over a new version of a charity single.
He expressed, somewhat contentiously, that he wished his vocal parts from the 2014 remix of Band Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas” hadn’t been included in the latest version.
But he told how he has his own charity project relating to Africa.
Jethro mentioned that he is part of a significant ecological community project underway on the stunning island of Zanzibar, a venture he is personally engaged in together with his friends, independently.
Last year, I assisted with a charitable organization in Denmark that gathered and donated soccer boots from kids. These boots were then shipped to Africa so that children there could use them for playing football.
In March of the upcoming year, I will be journeying to Ethiopia followed by Uganda, where I’ll be collaborating on an Afrobeat album with my dear friend Herbert Skillz, a talented artist who was once an orphan in Africa.
