Ed Sheeran mingles with Jimmy Fallon courtside as they cheer on the Knicks in New York

Ed Sheeran was spotted mingling with Jimmy Fallon at the Knicks game in New York on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old singer and 51-year-old comedian were seen enjoying the New York Knicks game against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Madison Square Garden, sitting in the front row and enthusiastically cheering.

Ed wore a fashionable cream-colored Corteiz hoodie and camouflage cargo pants to the game.

He finished his casual outfit with a pair of Air Jordan 1 Off-White Retro High NRG sneakers, which are valued at around £2,000.

Meanwhile, Jimmy opted for a black Celine jacket with a pair of smart grey trousers.

The pair appeared in great spirits as they watched the Knicks defeat the Cavaliers 119-111.

Earlier in the evening, Ed was seen arriving at the venue as he exited his car.

His outing comes after the singer revealed he’s relocating to America for the foreseeable future.

The British singer, who often travels for his career, recently shared in an interview that he plans to live in the United States with his family during his upcoming tour.

Ed, a successful property investor with holdings valued at £70 million, has recently purchased a large home in New York for £9 million.

Despite his busy career, Ed Sheeran primarily lives at his country home in Suffolk with his wife, Cherry Seaborn, and their two daughters, five-year-old Lyra and three-year-old Jupiter.

On the 2 Johnnies podcast, he announced he was moving to America, joking that he felt like the only person doing so.

I’ll be touring there for an extended period, and since I have a family, we need to fully relocate rather than just make brief visits. We’re planning to move and establish ourselves there.

Ed did not specify where in the States he would be moving to.

He had mentioned before that he might move to the United States, as he was interested in pursuing a career in country music.

Ed said earlier this year: ‘When you transition to country, you can’t transition back.

I love Nashville – it’s always been my dream to move there and become a country artist.

Ed’s move overseas happens shortly after a controversy arose when he said he felt ‘culturally Irish,’ even though he was born and grew up in England.

The singer-songwriter grew up in Suffolk, but his father, John, is from Belfast. As a result, he spent a lot of time in Ireland during his childhood.

On The Louis Theroux Podcast, Ed shared that he identifies with Irish culture, explaining it’s the culture he was raised with.

My dad comes from a large family – he has seven siblings. We used to spend all our holidays in Ireland.

I grew up listening to traditional Irish music at home, which strongly shaped my cultural identity. However, I was born and raised in Britain.

The singer of ‘Galway Girl’ also shared that he’s very proud of his Irish heritage, and doesn’t feel limited to identifying as British – it all comes down to personal identity.

He explained that he doesn’t dwell on things too much, but he’s very proud of his background and wants to share it with others, as it’s a big part of who he is.

Honestly, it just bothers me when people assume I’m just British because I was born there! It’s like, so many of my friends are mixed – half this, a quarter that – and it feels weird to be put in a box like that. It’s not about rejecting where I’m from, it’s just… identity is way more complicated than that, you know?

There aren’t really any set rules for this. It’s more about following your instincts, your upbringing, and what feels right to you.

Everyone always asks me if I feel the love when I’m in Ireland, and honestly, I do! It really feels like a second home to me – I absolutely adore the country and the people there.

He described Ireland as his musical second home, and the place where he’s achieved the most success with his music.
