Ed Sheeran hints at difficulties in his seven-year marriage to Cherry Seaborn in the expanded edition of his album, ‘Play’.
As a huge fan, I was so excited when this new version dropped back in September! It’s got 14 tracks you won’t find on the regular album, and a lot of them seem to be about the singer’s relationship – she’s 34, by the way – which makes it even more interesting to listen to.
The song ‘Problems’ reflects the challenges Ed Sheeran’s three-year Mathematics tour created for his family. He and his wife, Cherry, have two young children: five-year-old Lyra and three-year-old Jupiter.
He admitted things aren’t going well, telling Page Six, ‘Our garden flowers are dying – when did things start to fall apart? I don’t know.’ He confessed they’re facing problems they don’t know how to fix.
In the song ‘War Game,’ the artist expresses feelings of being overwhelmed and disillusioned with the consequences of their own creations, singing about daily struggles with change and a sense of emptiness.
You’re the only one for me, and I desire you completely. However, simply loving you doesn’t feel like enough; I wish I could offer more.

The song continues with lines like, ‘We’re on the verge of leaving and starting over, either deeply in love or completely losing our minds.’
In the novel Regrets, Ed reflects on his life and expresses sadness about not being around his daughters enough.
It’s hard to explain to you why Dad has to leave, because you’re so young. Every time I walk out the door, you worry I’m never coming back. I know all those phone calls and saying goodnight every time must be tough. I need to finish this tour, but it’s hard to explain why I have to be away.
He also candidly sings, ‘Missed out on so much / I really need to make it up.’
The Daily Mail has reached out to Sheeran’s representatives for comment.
Ed and Cherry grew up together in the same town in Suffolk, England.
The couple started dating in 2015 and got married in a private ceremony in late 2018. However, the pop star didn’t publicly announce their marriage until July 2019.
On Saturday, he used Instagram to share a bunch of candid Polaroid photos from his studio while promoting his new album.
Ed announced the release of his album, ‘Super Deluxe,’ sharing that choosing the tracks was a challenging but rewarding creative process. He credits a trip to India with ultimately unifying the album’s sound and vision.

The note continued, ‘I wanted to put on the songs that had been created outside of India too.
There are 14 extra songs that weren’t included on the original album, and they really add up to another album’s worth of music. I hope you enjoy discovering them!
Although my projects vary in style, collaborators, and overall theme, they all fall under the umbrella of my creative work. When I’m making an album, I explore a lot of ideas and narrow them down, but occasionally there are songs I love too much to leave unfinished.
The performer explained that this release represents the culmination of their work for 2025, which they considered a year dedicated to ‘Play.’ They announced the upcoming ‘Loop’ tour and shared that they’ll be moving on to their next project soon.
Thank you all for an amazing year! I’m so grateful for all the support. You can now find my new release, ‘Super Deluxe,’ on all streaming services and platforms!
