EastEnders star Lorraine Stanley hits back at brutal grandmother assumptions on TikTok after her shocking five-stone weight loss

Lorraine Stanley, who’s known for her role in EastEnders, has politely responded to comments asking if she’s a grandmother on her TikTok videos with her daughter.

The 48-year-old actress, known for her role as beloved character Karen Taylor on the BBC soap opera until July 2023, often shares her journey of losing approximately five stones on social media, following a gastric sleeve operation.

Despite numerous admirers commending her slender transformation, some viewers commented on a recent video that she resembled an elderly woman or a grandmother.

Lorraine was seen dancing a rehearsed performance alongside her 10-year-old daughter Nancy, as they moved to the rhythm of Maroon 5 and SZA’s song “What Lovers Do”.

As I gleamed with joy, I proudly showcased my lean silhouette and well-sculpted legs in a chic gray mini-dress, sharing hearty laughs with my precious little one by my side.

In a lively TikTok post, she expressed: “I’m back after some time!” followed by the tag “#MotherDaughter”.

However, even after clarification, some followers mistakenly assumed that Nancy was Lorraine’s grandchild instead of her daughter in their comments.

Yet, Lorraine swiftly put an end to their comments, responding sharply with: “My dear child, the hashtag #motherdaughter might offer a hint.

Her supporters likewise came to her aid, responding with phrases like: “Speak up!” and countering the initial remarks with questions such as: “What made you believe that was a suitable thing to say?

Meanwhile, Shona McGarty, a former EastEnders cast member known for playing Whitney Dean from 2008 till recently, also swiftly extended her compliments to Lorraine.

Oh, Lou! I adore this so much! You’re looking fabulous!” To which Lorraine responded warmly: “Thanks a bunch, friend! Sending you tons of love ❤️❤️❤️❤️xxxx”.

For approximately a year now, Lorraine has experienced a physical change and has periodically provided sneak peeks of this journey on her social media accounts.

The popular television personality disclosed that she shed approximately 35 kilograms within a year, expressing her delight by saying she’s never felt better than she does now.

However, it was only in April that Lorraine publicly disclosed the reason for her weight reduction, by posting a TikTok video detailing her metamorphosis, and admitting she had gone through gastric sleeve surgery.

Stomach reduction surgery (also known as gastric sleeve procedure) is a method designed for weight loss. This process involves eliminating a significant part of the stomach, resulting in a smaller, tube-like structure (or ‘sleeve’) that limits the amount of food you can eat at one time.

In response to the praise for her honesty, Lorraine openly acknowledged that she felt a bit shy about disclosing to the public that she underwent a surgical procedure.

She mentioned, “Although I’d love to credit it to my previous diet, I did need to modify my eating habits. Maintaining a balanced diet requires continuous effort on my part.

She continues to provide tips for a healthier lifestyle to her followers, often praising her fitness coach Louise and her nutritionist friend who provides guidance on her daily dietary choices.

Through rigorous daily exercises and a balanced diet, Lorraine found significant improvement in her life. She shared about her experience, saying, “I’m loving this journey and I feel great as a result.

While speaking with Woman’s Own magazine recently, she shared some of her weight loss tips and attributed them to her friend Louise, who serves as her personal fitness guide.

The actress, having shed 12 pounds within her initial six weeks on the novel diet, reminisced: ‘My meals mainly consisted of boiled eggs, fish, chicken, with absolutely no carbs, chips, or chocolate.’

Initially, Lorraine appeared on EastEnders as Thelma Bragg during several episodes in 2016. Afterward, she made a permanent comeback to Walford the following year, reprising her role as Karen.

Nevertheless, her character was removed from the show in 2023 due to an unexpected adjustment in the cast, and her last scenes were broadcast in December of the same year.

Previously, Lorraine herself disclosed that she’s been finding it challenging to secure new acting roles after her unexpected termination, although she has occasionally made appearances for guest roles since then.
