EastEnders legend Shaun Williamson claims he was ‘pushed down the stairs by a GHOST’ as he recalls spooky paranormal experience

Shaun Williamson asserts that he was shoved down the stairs by a ghostly figure at his residence on the Isle of Sheppey, following the sighting of an eerie woman peering from one of the windows.

59-year-old television icon, known best for his portrayal of Barry Evans in EastEnders for a whole decade, recently shared an unusual supernatural encounter during an episode of Celebrity Help! My House is Haunted.

One time, I found myself descending the stairs while holding a teacup in one hand and a plate in the other, and suddenly, I tripped and fell.

Instead of leaping up as if I were buckling, I found myself soaring into the air, with both feet off the ground and landing flat on my back. As a result, my teacup and dish shattered.

‘It took me five minutes to get my breath back.

‘I just thought, “Christ, what was that?” At the back of your mind, you wonder if it’s the ghost.

‘When the team moved in we found out that there was a strong presence on that stairway.’

Following an unusual encounter, Shaun mentioned that he started observing hints suggesting supernatural occurrences within his residence.

Speaking from personal experience, when we settled into our vintage home, it came with its own symphony of creaks and groans that old houses often play at night.

There might have been a draft in the attic, it could be anything at all. However, when pictures began to detach from the walls (they were firmly attached), I realized there was definitely something unusual happening.

‘I remember when we were doing our kitchen extension, we got to know the builders really well.

On Fridays, I’d often head out for work, leaving the weekends free for them. After bidding farewell, it was their turn to secure the place and wrap up the day.

About a half-hour past, they called asking, “Aren’t you still there?”, though we were already midway on the M25.

‘They said there was a woman upstairs looking out at us.’

Later on, Shaun mentioned that there seemed to be the ghost of a man called George, who allegedly killed his wife back in the 1900s.

He said: ‘So he’s just a wrongen, George is an a******* and he had to go.

I’m truly appreciative of this program, for it ensures that even if fragments of his essence linger, they cause no distress.

Celebrity Help! My House is Haunted comes to Discovery+ on January 23.
