EastEnders legend Ross Kemp looks unrecognisable with a full head of hair as actor confirms his return to Albert Square for show’s 40th anniversary

As an ardent EastEnders fan for over three decades, I can hardly contain my excitement at the news that Ross Kemp is returning to the show as Grant Mitchell! It feels like a dream come true, especially after seeing those stunning throwback photos of his youthful days on Good Morning Britain. The transformation from the bald-headed hardman we all know and love to the young, ruggedly handsome actor he once was is nothing short of astounding.

From unveiling my brother’s betrayal with my wife Sharon in 1994, to the heart-wrenching loss of my second bride Tiffany on New Year’s Eve 1998 – a victim of my stepfather Frank Butcher’s tragic accident – and the harrowing Mitchell brothers car crash in 1999, these moments have left an indelible mark on both me and the viewing public.

He hasn’t made his first appearance on Albert Square since his original tenure from 1990 to 1999; however, he came back briefly in 2005 and again in 2016, specifically for Dame Barbara’s emotional scenes with her sons.

His character later returned to Portugal with daughter Courtney (Megan Jossa).

Leveraging his infamous persona, Ross has achieved fame by producing documentaries that delve into the criminal underworld, such as the BAFTA-award winning TV series “Ross Kemp on Gangs.

The specifics of his character’s plotline are being kept secret for now, but top executives at the BBC have hinted that his reappearance will play a crucial role in celebrating the 40th anniversary of the show.
