EastEnders and Strictly Come Dancing star Rose Ayling-Ellis receives honorary doctorate from the University for Creative Arts

On Monday, EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis beamed with joy as she was bestowed an honorary doctorate by the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in London.

The thirty-year-old actress gained recognition for her exceptional acting skills as well as her efforts in promoting understanding of the deaf community.

Previously, Rose obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design with first-class honors from the same institution as far back as 2016.

Later, she gained recognition on EastEnders and Casualty television shows, then triumphed in Strictly Come Dancing in 2021 – an achievement worth noting as she became the first deaf competitor to win this competition.

In her acceptance speech, Rose expressed deep gratitude for receiving the award, particularly since it came from the same university she graduated from.

‘Work hard and enjoy the ride. Congratulations to all of us.’

Apart from her accomplishments in acting, Rose has also realized her aspiration of being a children’s book author this year by publishing her inaugural series of sign language children’s books.

The announcement about Rose receiving an honorary degree follows her heartfelt message to her fans, as ITV confirmed the continued success of the popular crime drama series, “Code of Silence,” that she stars in.

Earlier this year, a new show featuring a previous EastEnders actress made its debut with great excitement.

Rose portrayed the character of Alison Woods, a deaf employee who balances work between a police cafeteria and a neighborhood tavern, all while looking after her hearing-impaired mother to manage financially.

The woods play a crucial role in the police investigation as she deciphers the talks of a criminal group, growing increasingly captivated by one of the prime suspects.

In addition to the main cast, Kieron Moore, Charlotte Ritchie, Andrew Buchan, Nathan Armarkwei Laryea, Joe Absolom, and Fifi Garfield were all part of the ensemble in the initial season.

After an intense and nerve-wracking conclusion, ITV has officially announced that the show “Code of Silence” will come back for another season.

In addition, it was disclosed that a staggering 7.5 million people watched the initial episode on television, and more than 20 million individuals have streamed the entire series on ITVX.

In a heartfelt message to her fans, Rose announced that she would return to the role, expressing her joy that the show “Code of Silence” had been renewed for another season.

The initial installment’s reception was astounding, and I feel deeply honored to contribute to a play where the audience is constantly gripped, and moreover, a Deaf protagonist is given prominence in the narrative.

I’m genuinely looking forward to following Alison’s future path in the series and it’s great to collaborate once more with the talented cast, staff, and creative minds who make the show a success.

The work on the second season is now underway, as ITV intends to start shooting it next year. This means that viewers will have to be patient and wait for quite some time before they can watch fresh episodes.

As a dedicated follower, I am beyond thrilled to express my immense pride in ITV’s drama series, Code of Silence. Witnessing the audience connect with this captivating show has been an absolute joy, particularly their adoration for the character Alison – a woman who embodies skill, determination, and an irresistible charm that effortlessly wins hearts.

‘Rose breathes genuine warmth and complexity into her character, while Catherine’s imaginative concept provides the ideal setting for her to inhabit. We’re eager to reveal another edge-of-your-seat mystery, as Alison’s skillful performance and unique perspective create a captivating, one-of-a-kind TV thriller that will keep your heart racing.’
