EastEnders actor Navin Chowdhry reveals what item he took from set after his character Nish Panesar’s devastating New Year’s death

As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that EastEnders has always been a show that knows how to keep its audience on the edge of their seats. The recent departure of Navin Chowdhry‘s character, Nish Panesar, was no exception.

Navin’s portrayal of Nish was captivating, and his emotional goodbye speaks volumes about his dedication to his craft. I was particularly moved by the fact that he chose to keep a piece of the wedding gown from Suki’s character as a memento. It’s a small detail that adds depth to the storyline and shows the bond between these characters.

The dramatic final showdown between Nish and his son, Ravi, was intense and heart-wrenching. I found myself holding my breath, waiting for the outcome. The fact that Ravi unknowingly sent both his mother and father over the balcony adds a tragic twist to the story.

I’ve seen many soap operas in my time, but EastEnders never fails to surprise me with its twists and turns. I can only imagine what the next 40 years will bring!

Navin Chowdhry, known for his role on EastEnders, shared that he kept a special souvenir following the tragic demise of his character during New Year’s celebrations.

This week, the 53-year-old actor bid farewell to the soap opera as Nish Panesar’s character made a final stand against his former love interest, Suki, by scheming to sabotage her wedding. However, it seemed that his character met an untimely end during the process.

In his initial post-broadcast interview, Navin confessed that he hadn’t departed empty-handed; instead, he took something as a memento of his time on the soap opera.

In a statement issued by the BBC, he mentioned that he now has an Albert Square board and received cufflinks from Chris Clenshaw [the producer]. It’s worth noting that cufflinks played a significant role in the Sixmas storyline, and they also were essential to Nish’s journey.

“He presented me with an exquisite pair of cufflinks bearing the EastEnders Thames emblem, which I’ll wear with great honor. From now on, a touch of Walford will accompany me every time I don a suit.

Looking back at his final day of shooting, he confessed that strong feelings overcame him, resulting in many emotional moments.

As I wrapped up my final day on set, emotions ran high. I certainly hope the behind-the-scenes footage won’t be released, as it would be excruciating to relive those poignant moments all over again!

On that particular day, there was an abundance of tears among many of us. Even as I speak about it now, I find myself getting emotional, for this experience has held immense significance and value for all of us involved in this journey.

2023 started off dramatically for the characters of EastEnders, with their wedding turning tragic in one of the series’ most violent episodes to date.

In emotional, post-prime-time moments, Nish, who was terminally ill, declared that Suki wouldn’t have a fairy tale ending. However, as he planned to disrupt their wedding, he encountered Denise Fox instead.

Even though he had threatened to reveal his assault from the year prior, Denise remained firm. However, he unexpectedly grabbed a champagne bottle and struck her on the head instead.

By the end of the episodes, it became clear that Denise was not dead, but her life remained precariously balanced.

As Nish was en route to the wedding venue, matters worsened when Suki and Eve moved towards their honeymoon quarters, symbolizing the consummation of their marriage following their vow exchange.

Things took a turn for the worse as Nish drove to the wedding venue; meanwhile, Suki and Eve were making their way to the honeymoon suite to seal their marriage with intimacy, having just exchanged their vows.

At the celebration, as everyone sipped champagne from glasses bearing their names, Eve abruptly started choking. It soon became evident that she had been unknowingly given a toxic substance.

Overwhelmed with grief upon seemingly losing her spouse, Suki stood dumbfounded as Nish watched her from the doorway, swearing they would soon follow her to the same fate, as he filled two glasses with the lethal champagne.

‘There’s no helping her, but it’s quick,’ he said

As someone who has experienced loss, I understand the overwhelming feelings of grief that come with it. However, I also know that time can help heal even the deepest wounds. In this particular case, she is gone now and there is nothing we can do to change that fact. But as the moments pass by, your pain may begin to lessen because you and she will no longer be separated by the boundaries of life and death. In a few moments, the veil between worlds might thin, allowing us to reunite in a way that transcends our physical existence. This belief gives me hope during difficult times, as it reminds me that love can bridge even the greatest divides.

Prior to them having a chance to drink, Ravi rushed into the room to help his mother, just as Stacey phoned for an ambulance on behalf of Eve.

‘I belong to Eve,’ she told him as Ravi broke down the door and ran to help her.

Nish responded with a sigh, “I’m afraid it’s already passed,” as he guided Suki towards the balcony’s edge, offering them both a view of the other attendees below.

‘Eve’s dead and Denise won’t be too far behind her. Nobody beats me, not her and not even you.

So, Ravi, how does that make you feel when you realize that as Denise takes her last breath, her final thoughts might be centered around you, wondering ‘Why isn’t Ravi here? Why couldn’t he help me?’

On their heated confrontation on the balcony, Nish grasped a piece of Suki’s bridal dress while urging his child. (10 words saved)

He said: ‘You’re nothing, just a waste of space. The b*****d son since the day you were born.’ 

In a heated moment, I found myself losing control and shoving my father off the balcony, unintentionally causing my mother to follow him over as well. This revelation fills me with an overwhelming sense of guilt and despair.

Landing with a startling thud, causing amazement among spectators, Nish seemed lifeless as crimson fluid gushed from his head. However, the outcome for Suki is still unclear, as it appeared she landed upon his torso.

This significant event served as a grand opening for EastEnders’ 40th anniversary, and the show is all set to celebrate four decades on television starting next month.
