Eamonn Holmes has worried his fans and coworkers at GB News after sharing that he recently had a procedure on his eye.
On Wednesday, the 65-year-old presenter shared photos on Instagram showing him with a patch over his right eye, and revealed he had been hospitalized.
Eamonn has faced several health challenges recently, including two hip replacement surgeries, slipped discs, and continuing issues with his spine.
Sources say this new health issue has unfortunately delayed the broadcaster’s recovery even more.
The photos showed Eamonn with a protective eye shield carefully applied by hospital staff, and another of him in his car where he’d tried to apply it himself – using a lot more tape.
The actor joked about the photos, but didn’t say why he needed the medical procedure.

He joked that one of his eye patches was applied during a hospital visit, while he put the other one on himself, and challenged people to guess which was which. He added with a playful jab that whoever received the other eye patch was in worse shape!
A source told the Daily Mail that Eamonn’s health problems are serious and will likely keep him off work for an extended period.
He’s been having a string of bad luck, including ongoing back problems that require another surgery, which will keep him sidelined for a while.
Representatives for Eamonn declined to comment when approached by Daily Mail.
His post quickly received a lot of worried responses, as his followers filled the comments section with messages of support and questions about how he’d been hurt.
Messages of support for Eamonn included: ‘Hope you’re doing okay, Eamonn!’ and ‘Wishing you a speedy recovery, Eamonn, and get well soon!’ accompanied by heart emojis and kisses.

Just heard about your cataract surgery! My dad had the same thing done recently, so I’m sending you lots of good wishes and hoping you have a quick and smooth recovery. Sounds like everything went well!
Eamonn has faced a number of health challenges recently. After back surgery in 2022, he needed a walking frame or wheelchair to get around.

At the time, he shared a photo from his bed and admitted: ‘Life’s not easy these days.’
He shared with his fans earlier this year that he was still struggling, posting on Instagram about the ongoing pain he feels, even on good days. He admitted to sometimes feeling like he’ll never overcome his spinal issues, but expressed his strong desire to live a full life.
He’s dealt with health problems for a long time, including a double hip replacement in 2016 after years of severe pain.
Two years later, he got shingles, and it almost caused him to miss his son Declan’s wedding.
In 2021, he suddenly developed intense back pain. It quickly became so bad he needed a walking stick. Doctors eventually diagnosed him with three slipped discs that were impacting his right leg.
