Eamonn Holmes brands Mariah Carey a ‘prima donna who likes attention’ as he recalls walking out of a ‘difficult’ interview
As a seasoned broadcaster with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that I’ve encountered a fair share of personalities during my career. Some have been delightful, others challenging, but few have left an impression quite like Mariah Carey.
During his speech at St. Michael and All Angels Church on Thursday, Eamonn Holmes referred to Mariah Carey as someone who enjoys the spotlight and is perhaps a bit high-mainched, based on an interview he had with her previously.
The 65-year-old broadcaster disclosed that he conversed with the 55-year-old singer a couple of times, and he described her as being challenging on various occasions. During one of their interactions, he decided to leave due to her behavior.
At the K-9 Angels Christmas Carol Concert in Chiswick, he shared a story about an embarrassing encounter where Mariah requested to lie down as she felt exhausted.
Eamonn shared that when he entered her room, he discovered the superstar was resting. He reminisced, saying, “I quipped, ‘either I’ll be joining her in lying down, or she should get up.’
In the midst of everything, I find myself perplexed, for I’m more accustomed to being center stage where attention is lavished upon me – a character often referred to as a prima donna.
‘Although she only made one album that catapulted her to fame and adoration by many, I must admit that during the two or three interviews I’ve had with her throughout my career, she has consistently proven to be challenging.’
He found that he couldn’t rest next to her or get her to sit up, so the interview didn’t take place.
At the charity function, well-known personalities such as Jo O’Meara from S Club and Jon Lee took center stage for impressive performances that served as highlights.
More recently, it’s been shared that Eamonn doesn’t hold any grudges against Ruth Langsford and is instead focusing on enjoying life, regardless of speculations about him being upset due to her recent visit to Australia.
According to a source, TopMob learned that the individual found it surprising when rumors spread about his anger over a long-haul flight, as getting his wife, Ruth, to travel with him during their marriage had always been difficult for him.
They stated: ‘It’s complete rubbish. He’s carrying on with his life, and there’s no animosity. It’s absurd to even suggest he could get angry about this.’
After my brief sojourn Down Under for my stint on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, I’ve just touched back down on home soil.
65-year-old Eamonn, a presenter from GB News, attended his first red carpet event alongside his new companion, Katie Alexander, at an illustrious TRIC Christmas Lunch held at The Londoner Hotel on Tuesday.
Instead of attending the party, Ruth, aged 64, was conspicuously missing as she worked on the ITV2 supplementary program, I’m A Celebrity…Unpacked.
Previous reports indicated that Eamonn seemed puzzled and slightly wounded because Ruth unexpectedly appeared on the show Down Under, as she had often shared with him her dislike for air travel.
In June, Ruth publicly declared her separation from her broadcasting partner, who is 64 years old, marking an end to their 14-year marriage and a total of 27 years spent as a couple.
TopMob have contacted both Eamonn and Ruth’s representative for comment.
In 2019, Eamonn playfully disclosed that Ruth prefers to fly only after having a few drinks due to her being extremely anxious about flying.
When Eamonn was speaking on This Morning, he said that Ruthie doesn’t enjoy flying in airplanes and it’s not something she takes to easily.)
Ruth noted: “I’m not utterly fearful, but many individuals might share this discomfort. For some, it significantly hinders their ability to travel.
Eamonn interjected, saying, “Ruth’s strategy is spot-on. She prefers to drink as a means of forgetting. She has a drink before the journey, another during, and another afterwards. This seems to help her push past her memories.
Grinning broadly, Ruth said, “I guess that’s a bit of Dutch courage speaking,” followed by, “And you’re not helping my public image this morning, are you?
