Eagle-eyed Scrubs fans think they’ve spotted sweet tribute in reboot teaser trailer

Dedicated fans of the TV show Scrubs believe the new trailer for the upcoming reboot includes a touching tribute to the late Sam Lloyd. The trailer, released yesterday, features Zach Braff (as J.D. Dorian) and Donald Faison (as Chris Turk) performing their famous dance, ‘The Eagle’.

The show, originally announced in December, is scheduled to return in February 2026 with several familiar faces. Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, and John C. McGinley are all confirmed to return as their previous characters.

Sadly, actor Lloyd, who played the pessimistic lawyer Ted Buckland, will not be appearing in future episodes. He passed away in 2020 after a battle with cancer that began in 2019.

Sharing a screengrab from the new trailer, one fan wrote: “Portrait of Ted behind them.”

Many viewers wondered how the show would explain Ted’s departure, with one asking, “How will they address what happened with Ted?”

Someone wrote sadly about the passing of Ted and Bob, and another fan expressed hope that Ted would be remembered.

One fan shared that Ted will be greatly missed, saying Scrubs won’t feel the same without his signature confused expression and the way he’d fling his arm around, playfully messing up his hair. It was a memorable gesture whenever he dramatically lowered his arm.

On Instagram, viewers expressed excitement about a possible continuation of the show, with many hoping it would pay tribute to the late actor and the character he was known for.

One fan expressed hope that the show would still pay tribute to the character, saying, “Knowing the writers, I think they will.” Another fan wrote that they hoped Ted would receive a satisfying and respectful conclusion to his story, giving viewers closure.

Scrubs season 10 premieres on Hulu and ABC on 25 February 2026.
