Eagerly-anticipated spin-off stumbles with disappointing Rotten Tomatoes score
The highly anticipated spin-off of NBC’s show, Suits, titled Suits: LA, has received a less-than-impressive rating on Rotten Tomatoes after its initial reviews were published.
The television series that debuted in Los Angeles on February 23 features Stephen Amell from Arrow. He plays the role of Ted Black, a former New York federal prosecutor, who has relocated to LA and joins forces with an old friend, Stuart Lane (portrayed by Josh McDermitt), to establish their own law firm.
Yet, Ted quickly arrives at a critical juncture where he is compelled to take on a position he had despised throughout his professional life.
Ted suddenly faces a crucial moment in his career, as he’s compelled to assume a role he had always looked down upon.

Ted finds himself standing at a crossroads, being pressured to accept a profession he had previously held in disdain during his entire career.
Regardless of the achievement of its forerunner, Suits: LA has fallen short in capturing critical acclaim, earning only a 35% rating based on 20 reviews on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes as of now.
Here’s what some of the critics have been saying:
Rolling Stone
Aaron Korsh returns as the creator, and it seems like he’s either not fully grasping what made his previous works appealing or is overly concerned about avoiding repetition. Consequently, the new work may disappoint fans of the original who were expecting a more familiar feel.
Variety
The revamped version of “Suits: LA” shares the same essential components that propelled the initial series to fame, initially airing on USA Network and later on Netflix. However, unlike its predecessor, it seems to be missing the solid foundation, compelling characters, or captivating storylines required to reignite viewer’s enthusiasm.
The Guardian
As a gamer, I can say that the new version of “Suits” feels like a remake of the original, but falls short in capturing its essence and doesn’t offer enough unique elements to stand on its own. It’s not quite as engaging or memorable as shows like “Frasier”, “How I Met Your Mother”, or even the modern take on “Gossip Girl”.
Screen Rant
As a devoted fan, I can’t hide my excitement about how Suits: LA is expanding the franchise by introducing fresh legal minds. However, fellow enthusiasts, let’s keep our hopes in check when it comes to seeing another Mike or Harvey in action.
TIME
The outcome seems more like a standard procedural, rather than the groundbreaking series that first gained popularity on USA Network.
People
Regrettably, the television series “Suits: LA” lacks the refined quality, seductiveness, and crispness found in the original “Suits“. These elements might be connected to the original’s appealing, effortless charm.
Suits: LA airs on NBC.
