Eager for more Yellowstone feels? Here’s why you should watch Taylor Sheridan’s Landman on Paramount+ soon!
As a long-time fan of Taylor Sheridan’s gritty and gripping storytelling, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming series, “Landman,” premiering on November 17, 2024, on Paramount+. With the final season of “Yellowstone” having just wrapped up, it feels like a gaping void in my viewing schedule that “Landman” is more than capable of filling.
Taylor Sheridan has a unique talent for crafting hard-hitting, authentic narratives. His highly anticipated show, Yellowstone, has just debuted the second half of its fifth and final season. If you’re eager for more from Sheridan, your wait is nearly over. On Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024, Paramount+ will unveil the next series in Sheridan’s contemporary storytelling lineup, titled Landman.
As a devoted fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the latest creation, “Landman,” penned by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, which now stands alongside the captivating series like “Yellowstone” and “Tulsa King.” This enthralling new production delves into the contemporary world of oil companies in West Texas, inspired by the engrossing podcast series, “Boomtown,” helmed by none other than Christian Wallace himself. The narrative promises to unravel a gripping tale set at the brink of an oil boom, with far-reaching consequences for our climate, economy, and global politics.
This series boasts an exceptional array of talented actors much like Yellowstone does. Alongside Thornton, Hamm, and Moore, you’ll find Ali Larter, Andy Garcia, Michael Pena, Michelle Randolph (who has also been in 1913), Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan (who was in Yellowstone), Mark Collie, Paulina Chavez, and J.R. Villarreal. Notably, several of these actors have previously worked on Sheridan’s other productions, with Thornton appearing in 1883, Randolph in 1913, and Jordan in Yellowstone.
If you are a fan of his, you will want to tune into Landman, which gives off Western feels, just like Yellowstone. Let’s get into some more specific reasons why you should be watching the show!
Similar to Yellowstone, the story of Landman revolves around wealthy individuals engaging in power struggles over things they deeply value – wealth. This new series also includes significant tension, as both sides strategize and manipulate various elements, a trait shared with Sheridan’s groundbreaking work. However, while the rich are a key element, both shows provide insights into the opposite side. In the case of Landman, the tales revolve around the roughnecks or oil crew – those who get their hands dirty.
Although the two shows aren’t identical, which fans wouldn’t desire, they both showcase robust protagonists. Gary Thomas-Alford, known as Thornton, plays Tommy Norris – a crisis manager at an oil firm, while Kevin Michael Costner embodies John Dutton, the proprietor of the Yellowstone ranch. Although their occupations vary, they are the central figures in their respective series, portraying hardened, authoritative men who will go to great lengths to achieve their goals.
Absolutely, since both “Yellowstone” and “Landman” were penned by Taylor Sheridan, they share a distinct style. His entire body of work, encompassing Western dramas like “1883”, “1923”, and “Lawmen: Bass Reeves”, is characterized by intricate family dynamics, survival challenges, and relatable characters. The allure lies in the captivating drama each series offers. Furthermore, Sheridan’s work adds depth to our understanding of the West by making it more engaging and authentic. I suspect that “Landman” will continue this tradition.
The initial two installments of the series titled “Landman” will debut on Paramount+ this coming Sunday, November 17, 2024. Subsequently, the following eight episodes will be rolled out weekly, culminating in the season finale on January 12, 2025.
