Electronic Arts has announced that it will be shutting down EA SPORTS FC Tactical on May 7, 2026. The game, a turn-based football strategy title, will be discontinued less than a year after becoming available in more regions.

EA SPORTS FC Tactical began as a game called Tactical Football, released in early access. It was later renamed and became part of the EA SPORTS FC family of games. The official version of FC Tactical launched in May 2024 in several Asian countries – including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia – and is available on both Android and iOS devices.

Staying stuck in a regional launch phase didn’t help FC Tactical

This game tried something different by combining football with turn-based strategy, offering a more thoughtful experience than EA SPORTS FC Mobile. Although the concept seemed promising, it didn’t gain much popularity, particularly as EA continued to heavily promote its main football games.

We’re writing to let our EA SPORTS FC Tactical players know that the game will no longer be available after May 7th. We’ve stopped allowing purchases within the game, and it’s being removed from app stores. You can still play for now, but the game will eventually be discontinued.

I brought it up strongly because the game has been stuck in a limited regional release for too long. This is ultimately damaging, as it prevents many potential players from discovering and enjoying it by restricting access.

Taking the chance might have paid off, potentially attracting players worldwide, but limiting who could play wasn’t a good decision. After a year with no improvements, it’s not surprising things didn’t change.

We’ve already stopped allowing new purchases within the game and removed it from app stores. If you currently have the game installed, you can still play it for a limited time. However, once the servers are shut down completely, the game will no longer be playable.

EA thanked its players for their support and invited them to keep enjoying football with EA SPORTS FC Mobile and the new EA SPORTS FC 26, which will be the company’s main focus going forward.

If you’re currently enjoying FC Tactical, you’ll have until May 7, 2026, to complete any ongoing games before the game is no longer available.
