EA Sports FC 25 is Promising Big Things for Clubs, Career, and Football Ultimate Team – Preview Part 1
As a long-time football gaming enthusiast with over three decades of experience under my belt, I’ve witnessed EA’s FIFA series evolve through the years. So when I heard that EA was branching out with EA Sports FC 25 and introducing significant changes to the game, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation.
For over three decades, Electronic Arts (EA) has produced football games under the FIFA brand. However, EA is now trying something new with EA Sports FC 25, deviating from the traditional FIFA series. EA Vancouver, the developer, is bringing major updates to this long-running game this year. While FC IQ and Rush will bring exciting changes (explore more in Part 2 of this preview), there are also significant enhancements planned for established modes such as Player and Manager Careers, Football Ultimate Team, and Clubs. Let’s explore the details.
To begin with, let’s discuss the enhancements for Clubs. These changes primarily focus on allowing you to customize your club’s appearance and gameplay style. With stadium bundles, you can choose team colors and designs for your Clubhouse social area. This is where fellow Club members can gather and strategize before matches, utilizing the new FC IQ feature to streamline the process (more information on that in Part 2 of our sneak peek). Every Club starts with an equal budget, and you have the freedom to allocate this budget using Facility Cards. Relegation makes a comeback for Clubs as well, and Rush mode enables you to team up with friends and represent your Club, earning Rush Rank Points and competing on the leaderboards.
In Career Mode, equal focus is given to the top women’s leagues by incorporating them into both Manager and Player Careers. You can choose from various “Live Start Points” to begin your Career, and real-life football events will unexpectedly occur during your tenure. These include mid-season transfers and managerial changes that you must address. The Youth Academy enables the nurturing of budding talents, excluding those with full beards at 14 (thankfully), while scouting now offers the possibility to explore 160 countries.
In simpler terms, you have the freedom to design your own player’s background story in Career mode, which could be a “Fresh Start” with no pressure, a “Promising Prospect” with high expectations, an “Underdog” fighting against the odds, or a “Comeback Kid” recovering from injuries or setbacks. You also have the option to create your own unique background using a “Custom Origin Story.” Additionally, you can begin your player’s Career by choosing iconic players such as Andrea Pirlo, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Thierry Henry, and Kelly Smith, who are available as pre-orders.
As a long-time fan of football video games, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about the upcoming release of EA Sports FC 25. Having spent countless hours playing previous versions, I can’t help but be intrigued by the significant improvements promised for this new installment.
Player appearances have gone through significant improvements with EA Sports Cranium, a machine learning feature that generates authentic likenesses. This technology will be implemented across all EA Sports games moving forward, utilizing real-life player photos to establish more accurate base likenesses for lesser-known athletes, rather than using standard head models. Furthermore, HypermotionV Technology and new Goalkeeper PlayStyles have been introduced, leading to more realistic goalkeeper behaviors such as reaching for saves or sliding into the post and getting injured. Seeing this animation brings to mind the genuine pain experienced by goalkeepers.
As a long-time fan of sports simulation games, I can’t help but be excited about the latest features announced for this upcoming game. The attention to detail is truly impressive; from realistic wind directions and effects that make every match feel unique, to the optional addition of players slipping on snow and frost, adding an extra layer of challenge and authenticity.
Despite the recent additions of Rush and FC IQ, among other modifications, EA seems determined to deliver an exceptional football experience with EA Sports FC 25. Hint: This game could potentially be a fantastic addition to our gaming libraries when it releases on September 27th for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
