EA Sports College Football 25 beginner’s tips before starting

As a long-time College Football fan and gamer, I’m excited about the new features in College Football 25, particularly the Switch Stick. Having played previous versions, I can tell you that the ability to swap players in the defense secondary with more precision is a game changer. I remember countless times when I wished I could quickly switch to a safety instead of a cornerback who was already engaged in coverage.

EA Sports’ “College Football 25” has returned college football to the digital realm after an absence of over a decade. Consequently, long-time NCAA gamers may need to brush up on their skills.

To give you a strong start, here are some valuable tips from our team for using EA Sports College Football 25, whether you’re diving into your first Dynasty project or aiming for the best cards in Ultimate Team.

Choose your favorite team

When you initially launch “College Football 25,” a pop-up will appear asking you to choose your preferred college football team. This decision will primarily influence the appearance of the main menu and which team is displayed as the starting option in the team selection screen. Furthermore, this choice carries an additional benefit for Ultimate Team.

Initially, the game will provide you with a new squad comprised of some members from your preferred team. This may lead you to believe that you need to select the strongest team possible. However, rest assured that each team generated will result in a 65 overall rating for your Ultimate Team roster. Feel free to choose your favorite team without giving much thought to the initial lineup provided by the game, as you’ll be swapping out players frequently.

Start with some Ultimate Team challenges first

As a seasoned gamer of virtual college football games, I’m excitedly looking forward to diving into my first Dynasty with the new version, College Football 25. However, I must admit that this latest installment comes with some noteworthy changes that may catch even the most experienced players off-guard. To familiarize yourself with these alterations, consider giving Ultimate Team’s Challenge mode a try, even if you don’t intend to dedicate significant time to this particular game mode overall.

To get familiar with the latest changes in Ultimate Team, it’s recommended that you complete the Challenges in the 101 section right from the beginning of the game. Although these tasks may seem elementary at first, they will help acclimate you to the new passing, option play controls (which have been redesigned), and kicking systems.

Find your perfect playbook

In simpler terms, selecting a preferred playbook from the over 100 unique options and one of the ten various offensive schemes in College Football 25 can be quite an overwhelming task. However, the Offense and Defense Scheme Trials Challenges offered by Ultimate Team are an excellent solution to help you make an informed decision.

Based on my personal experience as a football coach, I believe that these challenges are an excellent way for newcomers to get familiar with various offensive schemes such as Air Raid and Spread Option. Through these drills, you will not only gain a basic understanding of each system but also learn which teams employ them. This foundational knowledge will serve as a strong starting point for your first few games, enabling you to experiment and potentially discover what works best for you and your team.

Jump into some games

I absolutely love getting prepared and strategizing, but remember, the joy lies in actually playing this game. Give it a try with your beloved high school team first, then once you’ve got the knack of things down, mix it up and explore different playbooks and NCAA standouts to keep things exciting!

Experiment with the Switch Stick

One of the latest additions to College Football 25‘s gameplay is called the Switch Stick. It permits users to interchange defensive secondary players with greater accuracy compared to the one-touch substitutions in earlier versions. Although it may seem insignificant, this new feature can significantly impact the game – consider swapping out a safety to obstruct a route instead of a cornerback who’s already engaged in coverage.

To fully unlock the capabilities of the Switch Stick, it’s essential to try it out extensively. This can be achieved primarily by playing various games. Keep in mind that as you explore its functions, there might be some awkward moments resulting in unfortunate goals. Thus, it would be wise to save these experiments for the Play Now mode.

Start Dynasty mode with a dry run

In the latest edition of “College Football 25,” Dynasty mode shines as the standout feature, boasting fresh enhancements that revitalized its appeal over the past decade. However, these new improvements come with increased complexity, making it essential to navigate menus carefully. For instance, constructing a Group of Five conference and eventually reaching the College Football Playoffs requires utmost attention, as losing a highly-coveted five-star recruit due to an unintended button press in the menu could be detrimental.

Based on my own experience as a former college athlete and coach, I strongly believe that aspiring coaches should consider starting with a “test Dynasty” before diving into the challenges of building a top-ranked program.

Play every Solo Battle you can

For those primarily interested in the Road to Glory and Dynasty modes in FIFA, these following suggestions aren’t essential for you as they are specifically tailored for Ultimate Team players.

In Ultimate Team, Solo Battles are a feature where you compete against another player’s squad, but with a twist: you don’t face that player directly, instead it’s the computer that controls their team. Each Solo Battle victory brings more rewards than a typical AI opponent match, such as those in the Solo Seasons.

In simpler terms, Solo Battles are online contests that run for four consecutive days. During this period, all participants face off against each other using custom-made rosters. New matchups become available every morning, allowing you to play a total of four per day. Your performance in each game determines the Battle Score you receive, which is based on the challenge level and your playing skills, as well as whether you emerge victorious. After the event ends, a leaderboard will be published showcasing the top performers, and rewards will be distributed according to individual rankings.

Check in on Sets

Sets are a valuable feature in Ultimate Team where you can combine multiple lower-rated players to create a new, higher-rated one. Although it may not be necessary in the initial stages, keep an eye on your Sets menu as your team progresses, as you might discover that some of your previously unused players can be transformed into significant upgrades.

Buy the Ultimate Team daily recruit pack

Each day, you have the opportunity to purchase a new Recruit Pack at a discounted price, featuring fresh, albeit lower-rated, players. These packs represent an affordable addition to your collection for just 100 UT units, making them a daily must-have as you work on completing your initial sets.
