‘DWTS’ pro Artem Chigvintsev arrested in Napa Valley on suspicion of domestic violence
As a long-time enthusiast of dance and reality TV, I’ve followed Artem Chigvintsev‘s career with great interest. His journey from the former Soviet Union to becoming a 13-season veteran on “Dancing With the Stars” is truly inspiring. However, recent events have left me deeply troubled.
Longtime “Dancing with the Stars” professional dancer Artem Chigvintsev, who has appeared on the show nearly every season since 2014, was taken into custody on Thursday for suspected felony domestic violence, as indicated by the Napa County arrest records.
Law enforcement officers from the local county arrested Chigvintsev, aged 42, at approximately 10 a.m. in Yountville, California, after receiving an emergency call, according to NBC News reports.
This database refers to the California Penal Code that targets individuals who intentionally cause bodily harm leading to severe injury, specifically in cases where the victim is a current or former spouse, roommate, engaged partner (either fiancé or fiancée), ex-dating partner, or co-parent.
TMZ reported that injuries were involved.
Artem Chigvintsev and ex-WWE wrestler Nikki Bella (then known as Nikki Garcia), were paired on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 25 back in 2019. They’ve been married since 2022, share a son, and currently reside in Yountville.
It’s uncertain if Garcia, aged 40, played a part in the situation. Previously, Chigvintsev was married to his dance partner Giselle Peacock from 2004 to 2005, and he dated “DWTS” judge Carrie Ann Inaba for two years, from 2006 to 2008.
On Thursday, neither Chigvintsev’s nor Garcia’s representatives provided an immediate response when asked by The Times for a comment.
On Thursday afternoon at 2:18 PM, Chigvintsev was freed from jail after posting a $25,000 bond, as indicated by the records of the Napa County release database.
3 days past, Garcia shared a collection of romantic videos and photos predominantly from her wedding to Chigvintsev, set to Haley Reinhart’s rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love”. Accompanying the post was a heartfelt message celebrating their wedding anniversary.
“Garcia shared on Instagram on Monday that this tune symbolizes our romantic tale. I can’t forget the moment I spoke to Jesus about Artem. Engaging in a discussion with Him and God. My emotions felt premature. It all seemed too swift. Then, this song played, and that was when I realized I was falling for him, and it was destined to happen.”
On our anniversary, my dear, I can’t imagine my life without you, as Chigvintsev put it in his post on the same day. To me, you are everything.
Originally rejected during the first season of “So You Think You Can Dance,” a ballet dancer who later competed on the British show “Strictly Come Dancing” hails from the former Soviet Union and immigrated to the United States in 2003. According to Page Six, he was not anticipated to participate in the upcoming season of “Dancing with the Stars.”
