Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson makes heartbreaking family confession

As a die-hard fan, I can hardly contain my excitement! I’m utterly captivated to be part of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s latest venture – the gripping biographical sports drama, “The Smashing Machine”. This time around, our favorite action hero steps into the world of MMA, promising an unforgettable cinematic experience!

In the movie, the ex-WWE champion, aged 53, portrays mixed martial arts fighter Mark Kerr, whom Dwayne Johnson refers to as a “paradox personified.

In his speech at the Venice Film Festival, as reported by the Associated Press, he noted that this individual was once renowned as the most formidable fighter globally, yet he was also known for his kindness, gentleness, sensitivity, and empathy.

Regrettably, the actor from Jumanji shared that he found no inspiration in portraying the character, as he couldn’t draw upon his real-life father, the legendary wrestler Rocky ‘Soulman’ Johnson’s experiences.

‘I don’t think my dad was an inspiration in terms of his tenderness,’ he confessed.

Instead of being my biological father, the one who brought me up was a man who had become homeless at such a young age – thirteen, to be precise. Consequently, his ability to express love was quite restricted, as he had experienced a difficult childhood.

Dwayne and his father weren’t on speaking terms when he passed away in 2020.  

They stopped speaking on Christmas Eve 2019 after they got into a ‘massive fight’ on the phone. 

In a heartfelt Instagram post earlier this year, Johnson penned his thoughts about his father’s passing. He expressed, ‘Oh, how I long for just one more embrace, another kiss on the cheek, a moment to look into his eyes, and assure him, “Everything is alright now.”‘

In the end, what you fought about is insignificant once they are gone. It’s a trivial matter compared to their absence.

Johnson was all set to kick off the filming of his Netflix action movie Red Notice when he received word from a close family acquaintance that Rocky had passed away, aged 75, in 2020 due to a pulmonary embolism resulting from deep vein thrombosis at his Florida residence.

Six days later, the Moana 2 actor found himself at a podium delivering his father’s eulogy. 

‘I don’t want that for you guys,’ Johnson continued.

As a devoted admirer, I’d humbly suggest having a heart-to-heart with your dear old man, if the opportunity arises. Make him feel a bit uneasy and say something like, “Dad, let’s make an effort to resolve this issue between us.” In doing so, I believe we can reach new heights of affection and understanding.

As time went on, it became clear to him that his father had a deep affection for him, although it was bound by the limitations of how much love he was capable of giving.

Despite his modest capabilities, he showed me an abundance of love. It wasn’t until later in my life that I truly understood the depth of this affection. It wasn’t until after he was no longer with me that I fully appreciated it.

In a vague manner, The Rock didn’t delve deeply into details about their fight, but subtly suggested that his father may have had previous encounters with the legal system in the past.

Johnson stated that he learned the importance of hard work and discipline from someone. Reflecting on this, he expressed his amazement at how these two values have guided him significantly in his journey.

There are certain tasks, chuckling to myself, that I’d rather avoid, but I learned from them the hard way. I appreciate his role in teaching me those lessons too. Soulman, happy anniversary! I know you’re looking down, and I want to thank you for those valuable life lessons.
