HBO Max will release The Smashing Machine on January 23rd. The film, directed by Benny Safdie, tells the story of UFC heavyweight champion Mark Kerr, played by Kevin Johnson. Emily Blunt stars as Kerr’s wife, Dawn Staples, and the cast also includes Bas Rutten, Lyndsey Gavin, and Oleksandr Usyk. This role is a departure for Johnson, known primarily for comedic work, as it’s a more serious, dramatic part for him.
