Dune: Prophecy Season 2 Has Begun Filming With White Lotus And Adolescence Stars Added To The Sci-Fi Show’s Epic Cast

2026 looks like a fantastic year for fans of Dune. Not only will Dune: Part Three (based on Frank Herbert’s Dune: Messiah and directed by Denis Villeneuve) arrive in theaters in December, but the TV series Dune: Prophecy is returning for a second season. Today, it was announced that production on the new season has begun, and three new actors will be joining the cast.

Production for Season 2 of HBO’s Dune: Prophecy is officially underway! Indira Varma, Ashley Waters, and Tom Hollander are joining the cast, though their characters haven’t been announced yet. They’ll be acting alongside returning stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, and Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, who will reprise their roles from the first season.

While details about the plot are scarce, the recent announcement confirms Alison Schapker is returning as showrunner. Filming will take the cast and crew to exciting locations around the world, including Hungary, Jordan, and Spain. A sneak peek at the upcoming season is available on Instagram.

Indira Varma is a notable new addition to the cast, as this isn’t her first involvement with the show. She was originally cast as Natalya Arat for the first season of Dune: Prophecy, but had to withdraw due to scheduling issues, and Jodhi May took over the role. Varma has experience with popular franchises, having also appeared in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Doctor Who, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Ashley Waters recently received praise and an Emmy nomination for his performance in the Netflix series Adolescence. He’s also known for his work on the streaming crime drama Top Boy.

Tom Hollander is back on HBO after his memorable performance in season two of The White Lotus. Since then, he’s been working steadily, most recently portraying Alfred Hitchcock in two episodes of the Netflix series Monster, and starring as a lead in the Sky crime drama The Iris Affair.

Though the Emmy-nominated series Dune: Prophecy hasn’t announced when Season 2 will premiere, production has begun, so it will be interesting to see how its release aligns with the arrival of Dune: Part Three later this year. Stay tuned for more news about the show in the months ahead, and you can revisit Season 1 with your HBO Max subscription.
