Dune: Part 2 leads nominations at Saturn Awards, which honor the best in sci-fi and fantasy

As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of film and television, I must say that this year’s Saturn Awards lineup is nothing short of spectacular! The diversity and quality of the nominees truly reflect the vibrant and ever-evolving landscape of our industry.

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films has unveiled the nominees for the 52nd Annual Saturn Awards, celebrating excellence in science-fiction and fantasy television. Leading the pack with a total of 14 nominations is “Dune: Part Two”, including Best Science Fiction Film. Denis Villeneuve was recognized for his direction, while actors Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, and Rebecca Ferguson were all nominated in the acting categories. The nominations keep pouring in.

The Tim Burton film, “Beetlejuice,” garnered 13 nominations. Similar to “Dune: Part Two,” this movie is a Warner Bros. Discovery production that received more nominations than any other studio. However, the critical and commercial disappointment of “Joker: Folie à Deux” might not be completely offset by this achievement, but it’s still commendable.

Meanwhile, Deadpool and Wolverine bagged ten nominations. In the realm of television, Amazon’s Fallout show emerged as the frontrunner with five nominations: Best Science Fiction Television Series, Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series (Walton Goggins), Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series (Ella Purnell), Best Supporting Performance by an Actor in a Television Series (Aaaron Moten), and Outstanding Guest Star in a Television Series (Kyle MacLachlan).

HBO’s “House of the Dragon,” the prequel to “Game of Thrones,” also received several nominations. These include categories for Best Fantasy Television Series, with Emma D’Arcy nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series and Matt Smith for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series.
