The third Dune movie will open exclusively in IMAX theaters on December 18, 2026, the same day as the premiere of Avengers: Doomsday.

Dune: Part Three will open in IMAX theaters first, giving it an edge with higher ticket prices and a more impressive cinematic experience. This puts it in direct competition with another film releasing on the same date, December 18, 2026, creating a box office showdown between the two.
People online brought up the issues with IMAX and how the release date might change. One commenter said Disney should reconsider the current release date, comparing releasing an Avengers movie without IMAX to owning a fast car and driving it slowly.
Another user stated, “Yeah move up the Avengers to around Thanksgiving.”
