Dukes of Hazzard star John Schneider reveals he’s working on a Charlie Kirk tribute song

John Schneider is creating a musical show called Charlie’s Voice to honor the memory of Charlie Kirk.

The 65-year-old actor and singer shared his plans just one week after the 31-year-old conservative commentator was fatally shot on a college campus in Utah.

Okay, so I was reading what this amazing performer – seriously, they’re incredible – said to Fox News, and they think this awful shooting of that political activist is going to *finally* wake people up on the right. They believe it’ll push them to actually *do* something, to make a real change. I just… I hope they’re right. It’s just so frustrating seeing things stay the same, and maybe this will be the thing that finally shifts things. Honestly, anything this performer thinks is probably brilliant, so I’m clinging to that hope!

Schneider, best known for playing Bo Duke in the TV show *The Dukes of Hazzard* which aired for six years, stated they plan to be more outspoken and confident going forward.

As a longtime observer of politics, I truly believe those on the left are underestimating the impact of Kirk’s tragic death. I saw firsthand on Dancing with the Stars how much passion and conviction people like Schneider have, and he’s right – Republicans aren’t going to let this go. They’re going to keep bringing it up, and frankly, I don’t think anyone should be surprised.

Schneider believes the shooting that happened on September 10th at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, won’t have the effect some people hoped for – calming things down.

He added: ‘I hate to think of Charlie as a martyr, but I’m afraid that’s what Charlie is now.’

Schneider expressed hope that the killing of Kirk represents the worst point of division in American political conversations between liberals and conservatives.

Schneider expressed hope that this would encourage people to at least talk about their disagreements.

The actor stated that if simply disagreeing with someone becomes a reason to commit violence, then we no longer live in the country he recognizes as the United States.

The America my father and grandfather fought for isn’t the same as it is today, and it’s not the country our ancestors imagined. We need to return to those original values.

Schneider discussed the lasting impact of the Turning Point USA founder, stating it was unfortunate Kirk would be remembered for his death. He urged younger people to continue working towards the activist’s goals.

‘What a terrible, terrible thing,’ Schneider said. ‘But we can’t, we can’t let it shut us up.

Anyone hoping to silence conservative viewpoints by raising a generation of 22-year-olds has failed.

He added: That’s not gonna happen, nor should it – and it should also not shut up liberal speech.’

Schneider explained the importance of the First Amendment and how it helps the country run smoothly.

I understand the idea of free speech doesn’t protect hate speech,” Schneider explained. “But it *should* allow people to have open conversations, like the one we’re having right now.

‘And apparently, you can get a death sentence for that – that’s not America.’
