I was really touched when Dua Lipa shared her thoughts on long-distance relationships. Someone asked her for advice because they’d moved for a job, and she totally understood the difficulties. It felt so relatable and genuine, knowing she gets what it’s like to make those connections work when you’re far apart.
Dua Lipa, the singer known for ‘Levitating,’ recently offered advice on her website, Service 95. Someone asked her how to maintain close relationships with family and friends who live far away.
Dua was the ideal person to consult, fresh off a year spent touring the world with her Radical Optimism show. The tour had been particularly challenging as it meant being separated from her fiancé, Callum Turner, and her family back in London.
She replied that she’d become quite skilled at handling this, particularly when she was on tour.
‘I’ll start by saying this: it does get easier with time, but it never stops being hard.
It’s hard being separated from family. It’s not only missing major events that hurts, but also losing touch through everyday moments, which can make you feel disconnected.
Despite admitting things can be tough, Dua finished with a hopeful thought: even though relationships evolve when people are apart, love itself remains.
‘If anything, it can feel even stronger when you don’t get to see each other all the time.’
The popular singer shared details about her own past relationships after a fan wrote to her about their sister struggling with confidence after a breakup.
Dua, who has been in relationships with Anwar Hadid and Isaac Carew, responded by saying that breakups are always difficult, both personally and when watching someone you care about go through one.
I’ve noticed something about supporting people when they’re feeling down. My first impulse is always to pump them up with big, encouraging words – telling them how great they are or to just ignore the negativity. But honestly, I’m starting to realize that’s not always the best approach, or even what they need in that moment.
‘Sometimes the best thing you can do is just be there and be reliable.
Allow her to express her negative feelings, even if she uses strong language, without attempting to cheer her up or offer solutions.
Going through a breakup is upsetting, and allowing yourself time to process those difficult feelings can be surprisingly helpful for recovery.
Dua shared on her website that she’s excited to put her advice-giving skills to the test, since people have often told her she’s good at it.
I really enjoyed reading all of the entries, so thank you to everyone who participated!
‘It was genuinely a lot of fun, and I hope my advice helps you in some way.’
After finishing her 92-show Radical Optimism world tour in Mexico City last December, Dua Lipa is taking some time to relax.
She had kicked off the tour, named after her latest studio album, in Singapore in November 2024.
Sharing a heartfelt message with her fans, she reflected on a wonderful period, expressing gratitude for the past year and a half with Radical Optimism, calling it incredibly fulfilling.
We’ve performed 92 shows around the world since last May, and it’s been incredible! A huge thank you to Mexico City for the amazing love, energy, and for hosting us for three nights.
I’m seriously overwhelmed with happiness right now! I’m still trying to process everything, honestly, it’s going to take a while… but I just want to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart! I adore everything about this, and I’m fully embracing a life of RADICAL OPTIMISM from here on out! It’s just… everything!
She has performed in Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and South America.
The tour grossed $112.3million and sold 960,000 tickets over its first 44 shows.
After finishing her concerts, Dua Lipa and Callum Turner marked the occasion with a pre-Christmas trip to Mexico.
Dua and Callum began dating in January 2024 and announced their engagement in June.
Callum recently shared details about his relationship with his fiancée, describing her as ‘the most beautiful woman in the world’.
In an interview with The Times Style, he detailed their first meeting.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m always asked about how couples make it work, especially with demanding careers. I’ve learned a key to a successful relationship, even with distance and busy lives, is having a simple, agreed-upon ‘rule’ to keep you connected. It’s something this particular couple swears by, and honestly, it’s brilliant – a little thing that makes a huge difference in staying close.
Callum said they almost didn’t connect several times – perhaps two, three, four, or even five – before they finally found each other.
He explained that after a series of events, when both of them were free and unattached, he realized she was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen.
The actor remembered immediately hitting it off while celebrating a friend’s birthday. They were seated next to each other and discovered they had both just started reading the same book, “Trust” by Hernan Diaz.
Callum described a scene from the movie where his character looks up at the sky and says, ‘I hear you. I understand. The signs are clear, so there’s no need to worry.’
‘And that was really the first [moment].’
