DRX Flashback has announced his retirement from professional VALORANT, sharing a heartfelt message with his fans and teammates.
DRX announced on January 8th that Cho “Flashback” Min-hyuk is retiring from professional VALORANT. Flashback shared a message on his account apologizing to fans and teammates for not playing his best, and said he’ll continue to support DRX and hopes they find success in the future.
DRX Flashback opens up about his retirement
Twenty-year-old South Korean player Flashback joined the DRX team in 2023, his first year as a professional. Despite his passion for VALORANT and competing, he’s faced challenges with panic disorder, which unfortunately impacted his career and led to a period of inactivity in 2024.
The professional player announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he plans to end his career with DRX, expressing strong hope for the team’s success this year. He shared that he’s especially grateful DRX was both his first and last team. In 2025, he played a key role in DRX winning the VCT 2025: Pacific Kickoff and finishing third at VALORANT Champions Paris.
DRX unveils roster changes
Following Flashback’s departure, DRX has announced updates to their VALORANT roster for 2026. They’ve promoted Yoon “Flicker” Tae-hee from their academy team and signed Ahn “Hermes” Byeong-wook. Hermes has been a consistent performer in South Korea, notably winning both stages of VALORANT Challenger 2025 Korea in 2025. This marks his first time competing at the Tier 1 level.
With the addition of these two promising new players, DRX looks like a team to watch in upcoming competitions. Anyone planning to bet on esports should keep this fresh energy in mind when making their picks.
VCT 2026: Pacific Kickoff schedule
The VCT 2026: Pacific Kickoff begins on January 22nd. DRX will face the team that wins the match between ZETA DIVISION and FULL SENSE. You can catch all the action live on the official VCT Pacific YouTube and Twitch channels.
