Drew Barrymore’s Epic 50th Birthday Surprise: You Won’t Believe Who Showed Up!

Drew Barrymore celebrated her 50th birthday on her show.

Actress from Never Been Kissed (who turns 50 on February 22nd) had a star-studded celebration during a special broadcast that aired a day earlier, on Friday.

Her Charlie’s Angels costar Cameron Diaz surprised her via video with a cute message.

And Adam Sandler, who worked with Drew on Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates, also called in.

Gayle King and Jane Pauley stopped by the show too as did Rachel Dratch and Molly Shannon. 

Show regular Valerie Bertinelli was also on hand for the celebrations. 

In his selfie video, Sandler expressed a heartfelt “Happy Birthday!” on behalf of everyone. For fifty years, you’ve enriched our world and made it a more wonderful place to be.

It’s a joy to welcome you to Earth! Everyone here adores you, as they find you incredibly kind. This sentiment is shared by everyone I know. By the way, happy birthday! We all look forward to growing older together with you, and we will.

Sandler expressed, “Carry on being the vibrant you, Drew, and continue inspiring us all with your zest for life. We adore you, and so do your children.

As your devoted follower, let me express that my family and I hold a special place for you in our hearts. It’s no secret, you already know this. On behalf of myself and my wife Jackie, who I had the pleasure of marrying in 2003, we send you our warmest love.

In previous films, Adam and Drew have shared the screen, with notable appearances including “The Wedding Singer” from 1998 and “50 First Dates” in 2004.

In simpler terms, another actress from the Charlie’s Angels cast, Cameron Diaz, also shared a touching message for her friend.

On your special day, Drew, fondly known as Poops, I find myself overflowing with enthusiasm! With 37 years worth of memories and moments tucked away in my mind, it’s a joy to celebrate you!

Cameron went on, ‘It’s hard to believe! It’s such an honor to know you. By the way, this marks 50 years – a significant milestone. But it feels like you’re only beginning, just starting out. And I couldn’t be more proud of you.’

I’m thrilled about the stage you’re currently at in life, as it seems perfectly fitting for you. I’m genuinely excited for you and I adore you. I can hardly wait to join you in celebrating your achievements. See you soon, Poopoo.

During Friday’s episode, Barrymore was also joined by some unexpected visitors – former Saturday Night Live stars Molly Shannon and Rachel Dratch.

Dratch, resembling George Washington, appeared on Drew’s birthday and handed her the Guinness World Record certificate for being the youngest host in a sketch comedy series.

1982 saw a young girl named Barrymore assume the role of host at just seven years old, not long after her appearance in the movie “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial”.

Or, more casually:
In 1982, this little girl called Barrymore started hosting shows when she was only seven, right after acting in E.T.

Back in 1982, a 7-year-old Barrymore hosted something, just after playing E.T. on screen.

Additionally, Shannon offered comforting phrases that left Drew in tears. They had previously acted alongside each other in the film “Never Been Kissed,” released in 1999.

With a note of admiration, the comedian exclaimed, “You’re amazing!” while standing beside Barrymore on stage, both enjoying cool beverages.

On the show, quite a few unexpected events transpired, including Barrymore receiving personalized birthday cakes from her daughters Olive (age 12) and Frankie (age 10), who are daughters she shares with former husband Will Kopelman.

According to People, Amirah Kassem, the founder of Flour Shop, moved Drew deeply when she shared sweet treats that his kids had made themselves.

The baker shared with the Hollywood star that they had aimed to involve two exceptionally talented cake designers, but surprisingly, the cakes were created by their own team! As it turned out, Valerie Bertinelli was there too, standing alongside the actress.

Olive’s round cake displayed floral patterns at the front, whereas Frankie’s cake was decorated with a rainbow backdrop featuring a stick figure image of herself and her mom.

Later on, Barrymore publicly read out letters penned by both of her daughters, and it was during this moment that she shared the content of a letter written by Frankie for the first time.

Dear Mom, Happy Birthday! It’s hard to believe that for 50 years, you’ve been the most fabulous and kindest person on earth, and for the past 12 years, the most caring and loving mom. I adore you so much. Wishing you a fantastic birthday, Frankie.

Additionally, she divulged the heartfelt note penned by her youngest child, expressing, “Dearest mother, In my twelve years of existence, I haven’t encountered a mother as remarkable as you. My quest continues.

Additionally in the special occasion of her birthday, Drew Barrymore was given a unique color named after herself – Drew Barrymore Yellow. Notably, only Barbie and the Prince possess their personalized colors through Pantone.

The head of the California Institute of the Arts, in a ceremony, bestowed upon the celebrity an honorary doctoral degree in fine arts.

Jennifer reminisced about how delightful it was for her and her mother to resemble each other. In the movie, they played identical characters, which meant they spent a lot of time collaborating on set.

Additionally, I wasn’t fortunate enough to have a biological sister, but what I yearned for more than anything was a sibling. We are the trio of sardines, and we’ll be heading into our tin. I’ve traditionally celebrated my birthday and theirs with them every year.

We follow a tradition where I host a couple of sleepovers before my special day, and then I’ll have a sleepover with my daughters on my 50th birthday. The entire concept for my 50th is centered around sleepovers. Sleepovers are something I believe should always be cherished.

At the age of 50, the celebrity looked back on her forties and shared, ‘I’ve never had that feeling of wanting something more.’

Although I could enjoy myself immensely and feel moments of pure joy, I’m not certain if I truly felt happiness. There’s a vast distinction between the two, but now, I can confidently say that I am genuinely content and happy.

Drew stated, “This past decade has shown me paths towards happiness, and I must actively select happiness for myself each day.

In a conversation with AARP Magazine for their February/March edition, she expressed her gratitude by saying, ‘It feels great not to be in a state of constant self-criticism, worry about the future, or panic about various things anymore.’

As a devoted admirer, I find myself pondering over the fact that we’re each granted a finite number of years, assuming good fortune holds. Instead of spending the second half of my life mirroring the A-side of a record, I yearn to make it unique, a captivating B-side filled with unexpected charm and depth.

Throughout my life, I’ve often felt anxious and overwhelmed, Barrymore shared, but now I find myself genuinely joyful and experiencing the best moments of my life. Honestly, I never imagined I could feel this sense of tranquility.

She subsequently alluded to The Lord of the Rings by saying, ‘Thank you 50… I can hardly wait. I feel just like Frodo, catching sight of the golden ring and feeling incredibly enthusiastic!’
