Drew Barrymore Shares Heartbreaking Struggle of Single Parenthood After Divorce

Drew Barrymore opened up about her devastation over divorcing Will Kopelman.

On her afternoon talk show last Friday, the actress, aged 50, expressed that the most challenging aspect for her had been transitioning into being a single parent.

In my passionate fandom journey, I’ve come across a stunning figure who graced the world with two enchanting daughters, Olive, aged 12, and Frankie, age 10. Interestingly enough, she was once joined in matrimony with Will for just four extraordinary years from 2012 until our shared journey came to an end in 2016.

The conversation came up when the ET star interviewed Moon Zappa for her new book, Earth to Moon.

She inquired from Zappa, aged 57, “Do you believe that we too strive to be competent mothers, reliable, and trustworthy, and did you often criticize yourself over minor details throughout your journey?

As a fervent admirer, I couldn’t contain my excitement when the author promptly affirmed my question, granting me the perfect platform to delve deeper into Drew Barrymore’s extraordinary experiences.

She shared, “Things were incredibly hard on me and it took a significant amount of time to heal, as they didn’t align with the typical family structure I promised myself I would provide for my family since I wasn’t raised that way.

Later on, the actress who played Poison Ivy expressed that she often felt envious towards children from more conventional families, as if they had something she lacked.

She shared with Zappa, “Things like that are quite peculiar. It’s the kind of comfort food you eat when you’re under the weather. I remember, whenever we were unwell at school, we would go to the office to phone our parents, but for some reason, I could never reach anyone.

Additionally, I found myself longing for the days when children could simply call out, “Mom, Dad, can you come get me?” Instead, I’d be left wondering, “What must that feel like?

In a social media post, Barrymore sought out the bright aspects of her unconventional childhood experiences.

‘Growing up in your house, there was so much freedom, there was so much autonomy,’ she said.

‘That’s a nice reframe,’ the Valley Girl singer said nodding her head, ‘Neglect, autonomy…’

She shared that her father, Frank Zappa, was so incredibly unfaithful that it drove her mother, Gail, to the brink of insanity.

‘He did?’ queried Barrymore. ‘Oh, yes, he did.’ Zappa asserted.

It appears that the explanation just clarified many things for the actress from Never Been Kissed. “Wow, that’s clear now, considering it. Wow, because I knew something odd was happening, which is why I felt so at ease there.

I said something like, “This place seems perfect for me… let’s get a bit wilder, I feel extremely relaxed and secure here.

Zappa acknowledged that he had met Barrymore’s mother. “Yes, I did know your mother,” Barrymore confirmed, then clarified the situation further.

I deeply appreciate my mother for enabling me to venture into various fields; without her support, I might not have discovered my true identity.

For several years, Barbra Streisand (Barrymore) and her mother Jaid, aged 78, had been distant, but they have recently rekindled their relationship following Barbra establishing clear boundaries in their interactions, as reported by People magazine.
