Drew Barrymore Embraces 50 with Newfound Peace and Excitement
Drew Barrymore has touched on turning 50-years-old this year.
On the occasion of her upcoming 50th birthday on February 22nd, the actress and talk show host shared her thoughts with the February/March edition of AARP Magazine.
In a heartfelt conversation with the media, she expressed her immense gratitude for no longer experiencing constant self-criticism, anxiety about the future, or panic about the current situation.
Reflecting on the potential number of years left in your lifetime, I wish for the latter part to be unlike the initial phase, more like the ‘flip side’ of a record, offering a different, less repetitive experience.
Throughout my life, I’ve often felt anxious and tense,” she clarified, yet at the same time, “I’ve experienced immense joy and lived my best moments, a sensation of tranquility was something I never anticipated.
She expressed her gratitude saying, “Thank you so much… I’m eagerly waiting for it. I feel akin to Frodo from The Lord of the Rings. Seeing that golden ring excites me immensely!
She also talked dating after announce on her talk show on Thursday she is not dating at the moment.
Drew Barrymore shared with AARP that her daughters urge her to go on dates, but she added, “I also remember how uncomfortable I felt when men were present when I was young – it didn’t feel safe for me. So, I might be more cautious due to those past experiences.
A while back, she acknowledged that Ellen Pompeo, known for her role in Grey’s Anatomy, shared with her the concept of the ’50 f-its’. The actress explained it as a sort of magical ability to cease worrying and stop driving oneself insane. Ever since then, she has been eagerly anticipating… and now she claims to have acquired the F-its.
‘I have no issues with aging. This is the happiest I’ve been in my life.’
The actress who charmed the public with her 1982’s ET, had a turbulent childhood.
Born in 1975 to actor John Blyth Barrymore III (aged 70) and aspiring actress Jaid Barry (aged 78), she spent the majority of her life apart from her father, who left when she was just six months old. Their relationship has been strained for most of her lifetime.
In a manner that capitalized on her fame, the mother often accompanied her young daughter to exclusive nightclubs such as Studio 54 and other venues popular among adults.
As your friendly lifestyle guide, allow me to share a personal journey that I embarked upon many years ago. You see, my teenage years were marked by a struggle with alcohol, a battle that began much earlier than it should have. At the tender age of 13, I found myself seeking help in a rehabilitation center. There, I dedicated over a year and a half to intensive treatment and self-discovery.
At the age of 14, she tried to take her own life. Following her release, she spent three months living with musician David Crosby and his spouse, Jan Dance.
As a star who gained independence at just 14, I never thought my teenage dreams would become reality. But wow, the past ten years have been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride – a mix of challenges, growth, and personal achievements that have propelled me forward in ways I could never have imagined.
At the age of around sixteen, I tried dressing up as Poison Ivy. During this time, I discovered that creating new stories or changing perspectives about my personal life could be achieved by using fictional characters.
In my own words, that revelation inspired me to continuously grow by weaving stories, which eventually led me on a journey where I not only take part in the creation of projects but also act within them.
She stated, “I’ve noticed such a significant transformation within me.” It’s about self-discipline… You’re demonstrating your own ability to adapt, which in turn makes you more confident in your abilities. Consequently, you begin to have a bit more faith in yourself.
In simpler terms, the actress stated that her ideal family, which includes daughters Olive (age 12) and Frankie (age 10), with her former husband Will Kopelman, was disintegrating in 2016.
She admitted, “I was unsure about taking one step at a time, as I’d matured so swiftly, and now I’m uncertain about what age I should identify with.
It was clear to me that my life was burdened, sorrowful, and full of pain… Fortunately, I managed to pull myself out of it. With two children depending on me, I had no choice but to find a way through it.
