DreamHack Shanghai makes history as China’s first festival of its kind
DreamHack Shanghai will debut in China alongside Hero Esports’ first-ever Asian Champions League!
As a gamer, I’m pumped to share that the ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) has announced DreamHack Shanghai 2025! This is China’s initial DreamHack festival, and it’ll be happening simultaneously with Hero Esports’ first-ever Asian Champions League 2025 event in Shanghai. Can’t wait to be part of this historic gaming extravaganza!
DreamHack Shanghai 2025 makes history
Expanding into China, DreamHack unites gamers, contenders, and enthusiasts in a celebration of top-tier gaming and eSports, following a history of festivals spanning North America and Europe.
By adding an esports event like Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Chengdu to its portfolio and considering that China is the world’s second-largest gaming market in terms of revenue, according to Newzoo International B.V., EFG is significantly increasing its presence in this lucrative Chinese market. Furthermore, it is projected by market research firm Niko Partners that China will have a staggering 730 million gaming enthusiasts by the year 2027.
Asian Champions League debuts alongside DreamHack Shanghai
Together with the Asian Champions League, we’re thrilled to immerse ourselves in Shanghai for a grand event honoring the gaming community of the region,” expressed Shahin Zarrabi, festival vice president at EFG.
The Asian Champions League encompasses a sequence of multiple gaming tournaments, including CS:2, Teamfight Tactics (TFT), Honor of Kings, Dota 2, Delta Force, and CrossFire.
Or simply:
The Asian Champions League is a series of multi-game competitions, which include titles like CS:2, TFT, Honor of Kings, Dota 2, Delta Force, and CrossFire.
Jonny “Xinyi” Wang, being both the CEO of the Asian Champions League and a co-founder of Hero Esports, expressed similar sentiments. To him, combining the debut of the Asian Champions League with the initial DreamHack Shanghai event significantly elevates the esports and gaming experience across Asia.
Speaking about it, he emphasized that having events in Shanghai, which is a worldwide center for gaming with countless enthusiastic players, offers an extraordinary opportunity for the community that cannot be missed. This event serves as a gathering for fans of all game genres to come together and rejoice in their shared passion for gaming – whether on the main stage, at the exhibition area, or making lasting memories together.
