DreamHack and ESL One are taking place in Birmingham next year!
Big news for gaming fans! DreamHack and ESL One are bringing their major events to Birmingham in March 2026. This will be the first time DreamHack has held a festival in the UK, and ESL One will be back with a Dota 2 tournament offering a $1 million prize.
DreamHack Birmingham 2026
DreamHack Birmingham returns from March 27th to 29th, 2026! The three-day festival at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) will include exciting esports competitions, a vibrant cosplay scene, live music performances, appearances by popular creators, tabletop gaming, and a variety of other fun activities.
According to Shahin Zarrabi, VP of Festivals at ESL FACEIT Group, the UK has a huge and enthusiastic gaming fanbase, but lacks a large-scale festival that brings all aspects of gaming together. That’s why DreamHack is coming to Birmingham – a city known for hosting successful events and ideal for launching in the UK. EFG plans to invest in the UK gaming community and build an even bigger event in the years to come.
As a gamer, I’ve been watching esports blow up, and the numbers are seriously impressive! Statista predicts the UK market will be worth over $250 million by 2025, and it’s not stopping there – they’re forecasting it’ll hit over $300 million by 2029. What’s even cooler is that means almost 24 million of us will be into esports by then! It’s awesome to see the scene getting so much recognition and growth.
According to West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker, esports is now a major economic force, with events like DreamHack and ESL One drawing international fans and players to local arenas. The West Midlands is striving to become the leading esports hub in the UK by fostering local talent, attracting top gaming studios, and gaining support from industry leaders.
ESL One Birmingham 2026
ESL One is returning to Birmingham next year! The event will be held at bp pulse LIVE from March 22nd to 29th, and will feature the top 16 Dota 2 teams competing for a chance to advance to the playoffs.
We’re thrilled to bring ESL One back to Birmingham – it’s a major event for both us and the Dota 2 community,” said Álvaro Sánchez Velasco, Dota 2 product manager at EFG. “This year is extra special because we’re partnering with DreamHack to create an amazing festival experience. We’re excited to showcase top-level Dota 2 esports in a city that has always been so supportive.”
