Draya Michele catches flack for promoting an air purifier during LA fire
Draya Michele is facing criticism due to her recent Instagram post endorsing an air purifier during the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
This 39-year-old mother of three, who recently had a baby girl in May, took to social media this week to inspire her followers by sharing a special offer. She recommended them to buy a device from Sereniby, utilizing her unique promo code for a discount.
She sent a message to her nine million Instagram followers saying, ‘As the shocking wildfires in LA continue, the air quality has become extremely polluted. To guarantee that my children and pets breathe clean, twice-filtered air, I’m using the @sereniby_official air purifier.’
In a quick clip, Draya opened the purifier, with sunlight streaming through her windows, casting light on her, and her cat and eight-year-old son Jru Scandrick could be spotted in the backdrop.
‘My post goes on to say that the brand is giving a discount of $200 if you follow the link in my bio. While peace of mind may not have a price tag, its value surpasses many worldly possessions. I’m also using the hashtags #prayforla, #airquality, and #airpurifier.’
Contrary to claims by some social media users, Sereniby maintains that they did not compensate the ex-Basketball Wives star for their endorsement post.

As reported by Bossip, someone commented underneath the post saying, ‘Draya seems to be utilizing the L.A. wildfires as a platform to advertise an air purifier on her Instagram. Her actions often lack sensitivity and are insensitive.’
The author suggests that if not giving them away, it’s questionable that she’s selling products right now, as it seems indicative of a lack of common sense or understanding, similar to someone who would buy creamed corn.
The negative responses prompted Draya to limit the comments on the post.
However, the conversation persisted on Elon Musk’s social media platform, as one individual exclaimed in frustration, ‘But where exactly should the air purifier Draya be placed? They don’t even have a house.’
According to Sereniby’s announcement, Draya reached out to them since she sincerely endorses their product, believing it can aid those struggling with LA’s poor air quality.
In these challenging times, I’ve been diligently seeking methods to make our air purifier accessible for everyone’s pocket. As a humble, newly established family business, we’re just getting off the ground, and her heartfelt assistance is truly appreciated.
The message went on saying, ‘Similar to many others, we find ourselves helpless in the face of the destruction brought by the Los Angeles fires. However, we wish to contribute in whatever minor capacity we can. We’re giving 10% of our earnings from January to the American Red Cross, and we are aware that there are numerous immediate requirements in this crisis.

Draya posted a useful resource titled “Altadena Girls Fire Recovery” and expressed, “This is truly impressive.
She additionally shared a post saying: ‘It seems someone in Southern California might benefit from hearing this, but you’re unknowingly experiencing trauma at the moment. You don’t have to engage in debates online with anyone about anything.’
The entrepreneur added, ‘Whew… This one.’
Besides being called Jru, she also serves as a mother to her 23-year-old son Kniko Howard and an eight-month-old daughter who is yet unnamed, sharing this role with NBA player Jalen Green.
