Drake Rants About Exes as Serena Williams and SZA Join Kendrick Lamar at Super Bowl
As a devoted follower, I found myself emotionally stirred by my past relationships as I prepared to perform on a distant stage, moments before two of those ex-girlfriends graced the same platform with Kendrick Lamar during his electrifying Super Bowl 2025 halftime show.
On a whirlwind evening in Melbourne, Australia, last Sunday, I – a die-hard fan of that 38-year-old Canadian hip-hop maestro – found myself caught up in an unforgettable moment. Pausing the rhythmic pulse of his Anita Max Win tour’s opening show at Rod Laver Arena, he took a break to share some passionate thoughts about his past relationships, captivating us all with his raw emotions.
Despite not mentioning her specifically, Serena Williams showed no hesitation in accompanying Kendrick at the Super Bowl in New Orleans, performing alongside him during his standout-to-remember penultimate performance of the controversial song “Not Like Us,” which is a hit Drake diss track.
In a televised broadcast, at the age of 43, the former Tennis legend was showcased up close during the performance, where she walked using a crippled style, synchronized to the song that included Kendrick Lamar, 37, explicitly mentioning Drake by name. However, the line labeling Drake as a ‘known pedophile’ was muted, presumably due to concerns of legal action.
Another one of Drake’s many former partners, singer SZA, also chose to support Kendrick when she collaborated with him on their hit song “All The Stars” from the Black Panther soundtrack.
In his Australian detour, Drake spoke to the crowd after the music had gone silent.

Drake gives epic rant on exes during his latest show in Australia 🧐

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share a thought: If you’ve generously given someone your time, energy, resources, affection, and even your very essence, only to find that they squandered these precious gifts – wasted the hours you shared, spent your hard-earned money unnecessarily… It can be truly disheartening.
As the lively rap artist went on, his emotions intensified, visible to all, and he moved restlessly from one end of the stage to another.
He expressed a desire for everyone to attend the song, which is particularly meant for all former partners and anyone who has tried to manipulate someone in their life. If you’re currently doing better than your ex, he wants you to show it by really getting into the spirit of things!
The audience appeared to thrive on the excitement, and they cheered loudly with enthusiasm as he concluded his speech.
‘Now you can play the song!’ he added for his DJ once he was finished.
His complaints seemed aptly suited to introduce his song titled “You Broke My Heart,” a bonus track from the deluxe version of his latest album, “For All The Dogs.
From 2011 to 2015, Drake and Serena were in a romantic relationship, but it seems that she doesn’t hold warm feelings towards that time together, as indicated by her choice to collaborate with Kendrick Lamar on a song aimed at damaging his public persona.
Significantly, she showcased a ‘crip walk’ dance move publicly, which stirred much debate, following her victory over Maria Sharapova at the Olympics in 2012.

Following the Super Bowl, I couldn’t help but chuckle and say, “If I had done the Crip Walk during Wimbledon, I’d have surely been penalized!
It seems that Drake and SZA’s relationship was brief and not widely known until he revealed it in an interview in 2020.
In that particular year, their collaboration with Metro Boomin and 21 Savage, titled “Mr. Right Now,” contained the lyric: “Yes, she said she wants to make love to SZA, hold on / Because I used to date SZA way back in ’08.’
Following the October 2020 debut of the song, SZA corrected a misconception on social media (originally Twitter) by confirming that they had actually dated in 2009, not ’08. She added humorously that Drake might have slightly altered the year for rhyming purposes in his lyrics.
In regards to Drake, I didn’t show any clear signs of ill-will, and I chose to clarify the seemingly minor point because I felt it was important to do so, not out of malice or disrespect.
She expressed that she did not wish for anyone to perceive anything inappropriate or unsettling, as it was entirely innocent. It occurred long ago.
In 2008, SZA was almost 18 years old, and that close age could’ve made friendships she had before dating seem suspicious or inappropriate.

It’s uncertain whether SZA, who has worked with Kendrick Lamar on Luther, intended to make a statement against Drake through their Super Bowl collaboration.
In a different phrasing: The rap artist from “To Pimp a Butterfly” added another track targeting Drake to his collection, titled “Euphoria,” however, the songs he sang, “Luther” and “All The Stars,” do not seem to feature any collaboration with Drake.
On Kendrick’s most recent album, GNX, Luther made an appearance, but it was the song “All The Stars” that was initially released as part of the Black Panther soundtrack and showcased in the Marvel film of the same name. This release preceded his significant conflict with Drake.
Kendrick Lamar’s performance drew both praise from viewers and those in the stadium, particularly during his song ‘A minor,’ where they joined in on the line criticizing Drake. However, it was met with substantial backlash on social media from other viewers.
A significant number of those with influential opinions admitted they weren’t fond of rap music as a whole and expressed desires for future Super Bowl intermissions showcasing rock or country musicians instead. On the other hand, some conservative and right-leaning voices criticized the performance.
