Drake Offers a Rare Look Inside His Renovated $200M Jet “Air Drake”

Summary

  • Drake unveils the updated interior of Air Drake, featuring purple LED lighting, a movie room, and luxe lounge spaces
  • The private Boeing 767-300F, originally gifted by Cargojet, has been transformed into a $200M airborne retreat
  • Recent glimpses of the jet’s refreshed design have sparked speculation around the aesthetic direction of his upcoming album Iceman

Drake recently provided a detailed glimpse of his revamped “Air Drake.” This extensively personalized Boeing 767-300F isn’t merely a private plane; it embodies the brand he has cultivated: one that is globally minded, driven by ambition, and unashamedly lavish.

In a visual sense, the aircraft has always been a striking spectacle. Its interior, once reminiscent of a slightly vintage, pink-hued design, has undergone an upgrade to project a sleeker, modern ambiance. This transformation includes purple LED lighting and a customized movie room for extended travel. Drake, recounting the journey, expressed, “It was, like, one of the most astonishing moments of my life.” He initially found it hard to believe until AJ assured him, “I’ll get you the largest jet in the game. Besides the President, it’s only for you and him.” This pledge has materialized into one of the most opulent private jets in the realm of music.

The initial paint scheme, developed in conjunction with Virgil Abloh posthumously, showcased a gentle sky-blue and white cloud motif, incorporating Drake’s OVO owl on the tail and prominent “Air Drake” emblem along the engines. Although its exterior remains the same, the revamped interior hints at potential connections to the mood or style of his upcoming album campaign for Iceman, sparking curiosity among fans.

Initially built in 1996 as a cargo ship, this aircraft was later obtained by Drake in 2019 through a strategic alliance with Cargojet, a Canadian cargo airline. This agreement, which supposedly didn’t require any direct payment, was based on Cargojet’s confidence that Drake’s global recognition would lead to substantial brand promotion. And they were correct. Since then, Air Drake has emerged as one of the most frequently discussed aircraft in popular culture.

As a passionate enthusiast, I’d share that initially, the base value of a 767 hovers around $185 million. Yet, the captivating tale isn’t just about the price tag; it’s about the remarkable transformation this plane underwent. Approximately $80–100 million was invested in upgrades, elevating it to an entirely new realm of private aviation. Now, it comfortably seats between 30-45 passengers, prioritizing space, luxury, and long-haul capabilities over sheer capacity.

Have a good look at the ‘Air Drake’ tour details as shown below, and keep an eye out for further updates regarding his forthcoming album titled ‘Iceman‘.
