Drag Race judge Michelle Visage leads tributes to ‘her angel’ The Vivienne alongside heartbroken Perrie Edwards and Ashley Roberts following the entertainer’s shock death aged 32
Michelle Visage, a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, was among those paying heartfelt tributes to The Vivienne, the winner of the UK series from 2019, after her untimely passing at the age of 32. Perrie Edwards and Ashley Roberts also led these moving remembrances.
On a deeply saddening note, I woke up this morning to find out that my beloved drag artist hero has passed away. Details about the cause are still unclear, but all that matters now is feeling the loss of their incredible talent and spirit.
Michelle posted touching tributes to her dear friend James Lee Williams (also known as Vivienne), by sharing pictures of them together and expressing her feelings for him, affectionately referring to him as ‘her angel’.
It’s difficult for me to express my emotions, dear @thevivienne. Our bond goes way back to when I first came to the UK, and you have always been a source of joy, generosity, and positivity. You never fail to impress!
I adored every bit of you – your humor, your skill, your unique flair, and your infectious laughter. But what I cherished most was our friendship. You’ve been a guiding light for so many. Watching you take the West End stage and see your dream realized was an unforgettable moment for me.
‘It’s a blessing to have shared time and laughter with you, dear one. My heart is filled with love for you. You will be deeply missed, my sweet. I hope your light continues to burn brightly, eternally. Rest in peace, my angel. Soar high.’
The news was shared through an Instagram post by Simon Jones PR, representative for The Vivienne, and it prompted Perrie from Little Mix to respond with a series of sad-faced emojis.
In the meantime, Ashley, a former member of the Pussycat Dolls, reposted the announcement and added: “This is heartbreaking information, completely terrible. Rest in Peace, Queen Viv.
Later on, she titled a picture featuring herself and The Vivienne from more cheerful days with these words: ‘An angel departed from the world, may you rest in eternal peace.’
In their own touching words, Oti Mabuse – known for her role in Dancing on Ice – paid homage to The Vivienne, whom she had the pleasure of judging during the year 2023.

In a heartbreaking message, Claire Sweeney, a fellow performer on Dancing On Ice, expressed her condolences: “Sad news, The Vivienne. Rest in peace, you were stunningly radiant, both within and without.
