Drag queen Tayce is announced as second star to be taking part in the Strictly Christmas Special - after comedian Josh Widdicombe was confirmed

As a long-time fan of Strictly Come Dancing, I must say I am thrilled to see Josh Widdicombe stepping onto the dance floor for this year’s Christmas special! His quick wit and charming personality have made him a beloved figure on the comedy circuit, and now it seems he’ll be showcasing his moves as well.

Tayce has been announced as the second celebrity for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.

The drag queen, 30, is one of six famous faces who will be taking to the dancefloor for the festive edition of the BBC competition.

On Monday, it was disclosed that comedian Josh Widdicombe would be the initial participant.

This week on “Strictly: It Takes Two,” it emerged that Josh will dance with professional partner Karen Hauer, and Tayce will team up with Kai Widdrington.

Welsh-born Tayce shot to fame as a finalist on season two of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

She is frequently referred to as the “Naomi Campbell of Drag” and struts her stuff on runways all around the globe during fashion shows.

Apart from that, she’s had hosting gigs on BBC Radio 1, MTV, and Sky, and she’s also put out a solo rap single.

Regarding joining the Strictly Christmas cast, Tayce excitedly expressed, “I can hardly contain my excitement to dance on the Strictly Ballroom stage!

My significant other and I will be dancing with great importance! In truth, it’s a truly remarkable privilege to be the initial Drag artist participating in Strictly Come Dancing.

I aim to make both my Drag Race and Welsh supporters proud! Count me in for all the sparkle, elegance, and disco balls!

According to a trusted insider who spoke with TopMob on Tuesday, it has been confirmed that RuPaul’s Drag Race star Tayce will appear in this year’s Christmas special. Notably, she will be the first-ever drag queen featured in the show, marking a significant milestone both for Tayce and the larger drag community. This is an exciting moment indeed!

Previously, the BBC held discussions with several drag artists. However, it was Tayce who ultimately secured the position, leaving producers thoroughly impressed from the get-go.

On Monday, Josh humorously suggested that his involvement might spoil Christmas for all, whereas Tayce admitted that it was an honor for her as the first drag artist to step onto the Strictly dance floor.

Regarding the announcement made on Monday, Josh expressed his deep concern, saying, “I am extremely anxious that it might lead to embarrassment, and fearful that my performance could be so poor it will spoil Christmas for everyone. What possessed me to do this?

Enthusiasts of Strictly as well as Josh’s fans got excited when they heard the news, immediately flocking to social media platforms expressing their joy upon learning he would participate.

‘They exclaimed: ‘I’ve hoped for days like these with Josh Widdicombe on Strictly Come Dancing at Christmas’;

‘It’s exciting to know that Josh Widdicombe will appear in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special!’

Throughout his professional journey, Josh has gained recognition as a co-host of The Last Leg with Alex Brooker and Adam Hills on Channel 4, and he’s also made appearances on shows such as A League of Their Own, Have I Got News for You, and Taskmaster.

At the moment, Josh is primarily recognized for co-hosting Parenting Hell, a well-liked parenting podcast along with comedian Rob Beckett.

Josh and Rob publish two episodes per week, usually featuring a guest star who is a celebrity parent, participating in their talk show.

On December 25th, a previously recorded episode is set to be broadcast, where each couple will showcase a holiday-themed dance routine in an attempt to captivate the judges, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke, and Shirley Ballas, as well as the audience in the studio who will be voting.

The remaining Christmas lineup will be announced on Strictly: It Takes Two in due course.

In the previous holiday season, notable personalities like TV presenter Dan Snow, Sugababes vocalist Keisha Buchanan, and BBC Breakfast anchor Sally Nugent participated in a special edition of the Glitterball Trophy competition.

Eventually, it was I, alongside my dance partner Nancy Xu, who emerged victorious on the stage, claiming the top spot.

This year, the well-known soap actor is participating in the standard version of Strictly, partnering with professional dancer Michelle Tsiakkas on the dance floor.

The news about Josh taking part on Strictly comes weeks after it was revealed he had also signed up for Celebrity Gogglebox.

In an engaging chat with my buddy and accomplished comedian Stephen Merchant, known for his collaboration with Ricky Gervais on the hit show “The Office,” I found myself nestled comfortably in our shared space.

Stephen, now 49 years old, who has recently appeared in hit films like Logan and Jojo Rabbit alongside Scarlett Johansson, shared that he doesn’t typically engage in conversation while watching TV, but he was thrilled to have a chat with Josh.

He explained that he generally discourages conversations during TV viewing, as he appreciates the effort put into creating shows and prefers to focus on them fully.

However, I’m more than willing to make an exception to my usual rule for Stand Up to Cancer and appear in the Gogglebox special this year alongside my friend Josh Widdicombe.

Speaking about his involvement, Josh, a frequent performer in stand-up comedy and panel shows, expressed, “It’s an honor to be part of the amazing efforts they make, contributing significantly to life-saving research.” This organization does truly remarkable work.

It’s truly an honor for me to contribute to Stand Up to Cancer, such a remarkable initiative. I also appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with Stephen, as I find our interactions especially enjoyable, especially when we’re both seated, to avoid any resemblance to a hobbit in his presence!

Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day.
