Dr Chris Brown’s shock move after almost ruining his TV career by giving Channel 10 job up to Robert Irwin

Dr Chris Brown's shock move after almost ruining his TV career by giving Channel 10 job up to Robert Irwin

As a long-time fan of Dr. Chris Brown and his captivating work with animals, I must say that it seems like the good doctor is finding himself in a bit of a predicament – or should I say, a “rat-icule” one! It’s always fascinating to see such a talented individual navigate the complex world of television networks.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share the buzzing rumors that Dr. Chris Brown is reportedly eager to reclaim his spot on Channel Ten after an unfortunate first stint at Seven. The passion and dedication he brings to his work are truly unmatched!

The celebrity vet, 46, jumped ship to the rival network last year after quitting as host on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia.

Brown secured his own renovation program titled “Dream House” upon his relocation, and also landed a co-hosting role with Sonia Kruger on Dancing With The Stars.

However, a source within the industry informed Daily Mail Australia that the anticipated ratings success from his shift to Seven didn’t materialize as planned.

‘Dream Home was supposed to be a staple for at least three years,’ they said.

A robust TV show that could compete effectively with The Voice Australia, Farmer Wants a Wife, or My Kitchen Rules.

‘It wasn’t meant to malfunction, and discussing the issue with the television veterinarian wouldn’t have been an easy talk to have.’

Last week, it was reported by Daily Mail Australia that Seven does not intend to add Brown’s reality television renovation program to their schedule for the year 2025.

The television celebrity failed to make a positive impact on the executive team, which subsequently led them to cancel the show following its first season.

‘It wasn’t the worst ratings, but it wasn’t anywhere near the show everyone had expected.’

According to reports originating within Channel Seven, it seems that Brown may have found himself in over his head rather swiftly. This is due to the fact that he lacked the support of his professional relationships with producers or his co-host, Julia Morris.

‘It was like the safety net was taken away,’ another source added.

To ensure that Dream Home gets a second season, Seven might have to invest additional funds to bring on board a well-known figure as his co-star.

‘Like a Carrie Bickmore or a Shelly Craft.’

They subtly inquired to gauge potential interest, but it seemed that nobody was taking the bait during the preliminary conversations.

Following an average initial year, Seven found themselves lacking the self-assurance that their investment would yield profits.

‘Who knows if having a strong female next to him would have saved the show?

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel on edge about the whole situation. The audition process for the upcoming season appears to be shrouded in mystery, and it feels dangerously risky. It’s baffling that the network didn’t even bother to address this during the Upfronts, leaving us fans hanging in suspense.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m hearing whispers that Channel Ten might be keen on welcoming me back into their family as a prominent figure once again.

According to the source, the noise coming from Network Ten indicates that the opportunity for his comeback within their network might be available.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m hinting at a possibility: “I’ve heard whispers that he could potentially break his 2026 contract due to the ongoing struggles of his upcoming shows in 2025.

He maintains very solid connections with numerous producers and production firms associated with Network Ten, and undoubtedly, Julia Morris would be thrilled to see him return for I’m A Celebrity. (Paraphrased version)

‘With one quick joke everyone would have forgotten that he was ever gone.’

‘Plus how long can Network Ten keep Robert Irwin?’ the insider asked.

Adding the Wildlife Warrior to the reality TV show following Brown’s departure for Channel Seven brought new life to the series.

Robert’s presence on the show has been truly valuable, yet it’s important to note that his compensation may escalate rapidly due to his high demand worldwide. Moreover, his future in the industry remains bright, offering him numerous opportunities.

The tipster added that Brown might continue with Channel Seven only if his upcoming program turns out to be a massive ratings success.

At the Seven’s Upfronts, it was revealed that the animal adventure series titled “Once In A Lifetime” will feature him taking part in ‘worldwide wildlife expeditions’ alongside popular Australian personalities such as Amanda Keller, Mick Molloy, Matt Preston, and Kate Ritchie.

A source has stated during the Channel Seven Upfronts that there appears to be a lack of initial excitement surrounding the unveiled idea, as it was presented today.

‘Dr Chris would be smart to keep maintaining his relationships with both networks.’

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Ten, Seven and Brown’s representatives for comment.

The veterinarian signed a contract with Seven in 2023, reportedly worth $1million per year.

The insider commented that neither the commotion nor the viewership numbers were substantial enough to justify taking Dr. Chris Brown away from Network Ten. This revelation came as quite a surprise to the entertainment industry when they recruited him in 2023.

Despite being labeled as a failure by some, Dream Home actually performed quite well on Channel Seven, boasting a nationwide television audience of 2,253,000 during its debut in May.

As the series continued, its appeal began to decrease; only 807,000 national viewers tuned in for the final episode.

Despite being smaller in scale, the final episode of Dream Home managed to outperform both MasterChef on Channel Ten and Tipping Point Australia – Olympic Specials on Channel Nine during that week. MasterChef had 689,000 viewers while Tipping Point attracted 679,000 viewers, but Dream Home exceeded these numbers.
